It's never fun calling dad after crashing his car - but when you've just wrecked his prized Ferrari you can bet you're in for an earful.

A Melbourne man had to make that call on Saturday night after destroying the front end of his father's Italian Stallion in a smash near Rod Laver Arena.

The front of the red sports car, which police said had been speeding, finished wrapped around a pole in the spectacular accident, which took place on Batman Avenue.

The car is an F360 Challenge Stradale, one of just 16 imported into Australia and New Zealand in 2004, with a price tag speeding past the $400,000 mark.

It was a very limited production version of the Ferrari F360 that was designed as a track car but could also be used on the road. The standard F360 F1 at the time was $396,000, and the Stradale was more than that and built to order.

Television news crews filmed the apparently unhurt driver of the Ferrari ringing home as the car's male passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The Nine Network last night reported the luxury car had suffered "extensive front-end damage".

Son wrecks dad's prized Ferrari - National - smh.com.au

Stupid tool.

Ohhhh I'd hate to be that kid when he gets home:eusa_doh:

Son: "Daaaaaaaaaad"
Dad: "MY CARRRRR you little son of a £$£%^"
Son: "oops"
:D
I think his dad will have his gun ready by the time he gets home. I know I would if I am the dad.

I bet the father is just happy to see his son alive and well after a crash like that.

Don't think so,not with a Ferrari CS is totaled:D

I seriously hate to be in that situation and the kid mostly got the keys without the father's knowledge!

That is what the media is saying. The dad probably didn't know

^There's no father in his right mind would give his son the key to his challenge stradale:D,i really hate to see that car screwed like that it's a fine Ferrari.

Here is the morale of the story:

If you have a Stradale, you shouldn't have a kid... If you have a kid, you'd better not have a Stradale...if you have both, it's very likely at least one will be troubled...:D

^I'd happily discard the kid for the Ferrari,no brainer :D

Now the car is in massive trouble and the kid will also be in massive trouble. He was speeding and the police is onto him now, after his dad is finished off with him.

That'll rub right off.... naa.. but the car is far from totaled.
Not sure how much damage did the aluminium spaceframe took during the crash, these sort of repair can't be done by a normal repair shop and it is very difficult to fix. It is better for his dad to order the F430 Scuderia if he hasn't done it already.

Yeah, but that care will only last until the father wakes up the next day and realize that his car is...........gone. That's when hell brakes loose. I can imagine them sitting at breakfast table and the father going "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!"

Since the engine and gearbox probably sustained no or very little damage the car is obviously repairable but to a very uneconomic amount .

I bet it can be repaired, but with such a crash on such a car... I think the magic of the car will be broken. Can't recover at 100% from such a crash, where the very delicate structure of the chassis was wrecked like that. It's not a Corolla...

Son: Dad I crashed the F360
Dad: Are you ok?
Son: Yes
Dad: Good, how bad is the car
Son: Bad
Dad: But you are ok?
Son: Yes
Dad: Good now I can beat you within an inch of your life when you get home:chair6fm:

Son + Keys to papa's ferrari = trouble.

Insurance sure as hell isnt going to pay for repairs. Papa's going to be emptying out his wallets to get her fixed up.
