It’s called the Type 01, what a name. The 'Type' prefix emphasises the new car's place in a succession of "legendary predecessors" stretching back to the C-Type racer that won at Le Mans in 1951 and continuing through the D-Type, E-Type and F-Type.
Each of these cars, said Jaguar, was celebrated for blending "an engaging drive with deep reserves of power, plus refinement and composure" - attributes it aims for the new EV to share.
Meanwhile, the '0' represents its zero-emissions powertrain and the '1' "denotes its status as the first Jaguar of a new era".
I can’t wait for this car to be a total flop... Lotus has woken up of this stupide "All EV" thing, so I’m still hopeful for Jaguar.![]()

The 1000bhp EV has been named in tribute to brand's legendary sports cars and its era-defining statuswww.autocar.co.uk
The press release sums it up very well.
But doesn’t make the name less stupid.
IMHO it fits perfectly If you consider the first YouTube video.
Volvo too.I can’t wait for this car to be a total flop... Lotus has woken up of this stupide "All EV" thing, so I’m still hopeful for Jaguar.
Volvo too.
I guess it’ll be a complete flop.
The EX60 will be crucial. Not so much in Europe, Volvo is nearly all EV.
The EX60 will be crucial.
Not possible even if its the best car in its class just because it's in a segment that is almost dead and continues to decline in volume/relevancy.I think it's going to be a smash hit, just like the iX3 is for BMW.
I agree in the US that’s the case. Not possible even if its the best car in its class just because it's in a segment that is almost dead and continues to decline in volume/relevancy.
0 TBH.Such an interesting looking automobile (so far). Chances of commercial success ? I haven't the slightest clue.
0 TBH.
Definitely curious to see how this turns out. Still think the fact it's a sedan san rear window is a terrible, claustrophobic idea for the rear passengers.
