Yes folks, it's almost time. Apparently it will be unveiled on the 7th of March.

Some leaked pics of the logic board and exterior body:

What improvements would you like to see on the next gen iPad?

Yayyyy. Long live Apple products, and long live AAPL Stock (been a great month, and logistics hopefully show that it will only get much, much better. :D)

My iPad 2 still feels pretty new.

I'm going to buy the 3, just not straight away like I did wih the 2
And what I want most is a Retina-like screen. Better resolution. I don't really know what else, besides a better camera and faster CPU...

Everyone had been speculating an A6 quad core processor but after the leaked pic of the logic board that came out today, its hinting that the processor is an A5X (which is probably an uprated dual core A5 possibly clocked at 1.5 Ghz). If that turns out to be true, it will be some what underwhelming.

I hope they improve the multi tasking on iOS and introduce a more convenient way of closing background apps (like ICS). While the Retina display sounds great it does seem some what pointless at the moment as there are no sources available atm to stream HD content greater than 720p (unless the iStore is planning to offer 1080p rentals). Hopefully this will get sites like Netflix and Hulu to start streaming content in higher resolution.

I am itching to get an Asus Transformer prime right now. It seems to be the tablet to beat atm. ICS seems so much more refined, Android Market seems far improved from my first galaxy experience and I love the keyboard dock. I am just holding on to see what Apple offers with the iPad 3

Youtube offers HD streaming and many TV shows and programs can be streamed in HD. There are plenty of HD sources online so the opportunities to enjoy a retina screen will be plenty.

The minute Apple announce that there will be an event on the 7th of March, my iPad 2 will go up for sale for £350 meaning that I will have owned the latest iPad for a mere £50. Then I will add another £50 and buy the iPad 3, and off course repeat the cycle every year.

Quad Core isn't necessary if they can beef up the A5 to deliver more graphics and power without compromising the awesome battery life. I agree that iOS is starting to look a bit dull and dated but the unbeatable basket of apps more than makes up for it. Racing Games are an absolute joy and I look forward to graphics getting even better. I've enjoyed it to the degree that I've even called off buying a new computer. The Transformer Prime is a cool device but the apps are simply not there to take full advantage of the device. The last thing you want to do is spend money on an additional device that's only good enough for couch browsing and not much else.

Honestly, 350 for a used iPad is a bit overpriced...

Apple products have very good resale value. And mine one will be brand spanking new as I will claim a new unit because mine has backlight leakage. Even if I sell it for 330 I will be happy and this includes a full protective cover. This is the benefit of buying apple products. They have top class resale value.

Given Apple's ntent of merging iOS and Mac I think there will be some cool new features coming for iPad 3 especially in collaboration with the new Apple TV that will be able to mirror in 1080p. If the screen res multiplies by four I would like to see some split screen options for multitasking.

Vudu streams 1080p and they have an awesome collection - latest movies same day as DVD/Blueray is out. Use it all the time and love it.

Seems like this is gonna be more of an internal upgrade. Possibly with the inclusion of SIRI?

Apple's like the German Car manufacturers, in that they keep and hone their products longer than their competitors, it seems. Safe to assume this will be an "iPhone 4S" type of upgrade, while the "2 year cycle" models will be the bigger changed ones. It's great long term thinking.

So Samsung just unveiled their next generation Exynos quad core processor ahead of MWC which begins next week. Taking into account that the previous processors on the ipad/iphone were powered by Samsung, this got me wondering if this quad core exynos (also built of ARM A9 architecture) might actually be the A5X? I certainly hope so.

The as yet unnamed Exynos parts will come in dual- and quad-core configurations running at up to 1.5GHz. Perhaps the most important change though, is the switch from a 45nm manufacturing process to 32nm. That means smaller parts that draw less power, while delivering better performance. The A9 cores are paired with Sammy's own GPU, an OpenGL ES 2.0-capable chip with four pixel processors. According to the company, the new CPUs deliver a 26 percent boost in performance and up to a 50 percent increase in battery life.

Will Apple ever release an iPad that comes with a stylus where one can actually "write" on it? I have a feeling they may be very reluctant to do that, especially with the fiasco they had ages ago with the Newton. I would love a tablet where I would be able reliably do that though.

I've got a stylus for my iPad. You can fetch one on Amazon. I did use it for some note taking in the beginning but now rarely touch it, but it doesn't matter. It barely cost me anything.

Lol...I have the 2, but I highly doubt I will get the iPad3 unless it's significantly different. Plus I'm guessing this will be the first Non-Steve Jobs model. I will probably wait until the iPad 4 or 5 come out when there is a huge change.
