RUF build great cars, I love the CTR for the lightweight concept, but RS Tuning is known for build great engines too. The CTR with 469 hp is a fast 911 expecially when the boost is setted at the top. It's able to 100 - 200 Km/h 6.5s with really engine developing 500+hp.
RS tuning are better engines but generally fitted on heavier 911 body. The 533 hp RS tuning 964 TT was quicker than the CTR being also 270 kgs heavier. Thanks to the bigger torque developed. RS has always been developing engines with high torque levels.
The 930 3.4L TT 472hp, continuing with 495hp spec, the 520hp, 530hp, 580hp, 630hp and the last 690hp. I have seen also some of these engines fitted on Gemballa's cars.
I remember a 1270 kgs RS/Koenig widebody 935 fitted with a 520hp twinturbo engine at World's Fastest Cars 1987 above, was able of 1/4 mile 11"6 with a terminal speed of 133.5 mph. Faster than any Ferrari Enzo from 60 - 133 mph. Then, the 690hp spec was able to 100 - 200 kph in 6 seconds on a 930 Turbo Cabrio and 362 kph. Think about this engine on a coupè.
A 993 4S 533 hp twinturbo closed in the 1st position in the list of Rallye Racing 80-180 kph test with 6.1s. And the 964 C4 533 hp twinturbo run 0-300 kph 23.5s and 352 kph in top speed. Huge performance for 530hp engines on 1500 kgs body. Also not mentioning engines on the modern 996/997 conversions. Over 600-650hp engines with high torque range power bands.
I love when engines with no extreme level of power make cars fast.
