Smartphones [Hot!] Samsung Galaxy S4

I dont think i have ever seen so much fear from Apple or its fans to a device that they say is not superior to their Iphone 5.lol...Just goes to show what a little competition does.

You got that opposite. Apple doesn't even acknowledge Samsung unless they're laying the hammer down on them for stealing their Intellectual Property. Samsung is desperate to use Apple in any way, shape, or form in whatever chance they get. Not to mention, completely scrambling after their $1B+ Court loss. If anyone's scared, it's Samsung. How do I know? Because it's written all over their advertising. Those retaliations were just Apple fans mocking a desperate advertising attempt by Sammy (by once again, obsessing over Apple).

If Apple was scared, they'd probably try and make fun of Samsung, but clearly that isn't their game plan.

If I had to pay someone a Billion dollars that I supplied parts that made them successful, I would have done the same ads. I'm sure it was more of an emotional move.
Apple would have been fine without Samsung. Samsung on the other hand wouldn't even have the Galaxy line if they didn't have Apple to copy/steal from. On the other hand, Apple made Samsung extra rich. No more, as Apple will prove that Samsung was merely a parts supplier on contract and Apple could have done what they did with Samsung, Sharp, LG, etc. etc. taking their money.

Even though Apple shouldn't be scared based on their loyal fan base, they are.

"Apple will suffer and is suffering irreparable harm" because of the alleged infringement, said the maker of the iPhone and iPad. - http://news.yahoo.com/apple-files-samsung-patent-action-us-155244519.html

I respect both companies and will continue to buy their products, but I hope they can resolve this beef. It really hurts both of their reputation.

That's actually Apple just stating why they're going after Samsung for stealing their R&D and designs. Of course Samsung imitating Apple's devices and capitalizing on their innovated marketplaces is bad for Apple's prosper.... it dilutes their work and forces them to essentially compete against themselves. Apple definitely acknowledge Samsung as a threat, as competition, but Samsung's playing way too dirty for this to be "spirited". These new "Anti-Apple" ads using an iPhone and leaving out a ton of its features to promote the GSIII and manipulate it to look better, after being "convicted" of stealing Apple's IP, is just the lowest of the low, I can't understand how anyone can respect Samsung after this. If Steve Jobs was alive and saw this, he'd probably fly over to Samsung's HQ and drag their CEO out by his necktie....

Nobody is getting benefitted from those trials, indeed. It sucks, but it's the way business goes sometimes. People will copy you, then you have to defend your property, thus being bad PR for all involved.

Samsung confirms plans to sue Apple over LTE in the iPhone 5

In a case management statement filed late on Wednesday with the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, Samsung expressed its belief "the iPhone 5 will infringe [the eight patents that Samsung is already asserting in a California lawsuit against Apple, two of which have been declared standard-essential] in the same way as the other accused iPhone models", and that it "plans to file a motion to amend its infringement contentions to address the iPhone 5 as soon as it has had a reasonable opportunity to analyze the device".
Here's the relevant passage (click on the image to enlarge or read the text below the image):

"Samsung anticipates that it will file, in the near future, a motion to amend its infringement contentions to add the iPhone 5 as an accused product. On September 12, 2012, Apple announced that it will release the iPhone 5 on September 21, 2012. Based on information currently available, Samsung expects that the iPhone 5 will infringe the asserted Samsung patents-in-suit in the same way as the other accused iPhone models. Samsung plans to file a motion to amend its infringement contentions to address the iPhone 5 as soon as it has had a reasonable opportunity to analyze the device. Because Samsung believes the accused functionality of the iPhone 5 will be similar to the accused functionality of other accused Apple products, Samsung does not believe that amendment of its infringement contentions should affect the case schedule."

The filing was jointly made by Apple and Samsung in their second California litigation, which started this year and is currently scheduled to go to trial in March 2014.

After bringing formal infringement contentions, Samsung could ask for a preliminary injunction against the iPhone 5. It does not mention that possiblity, but it's a procedural fact that a preliminary injunction can only be requested in connection with a lawsuit that will result in either the dissolution of the preliminary injunction or its conversion into a permanent one.

Last year, Samsung sought preliminary injunctions against Apple in other jurisdictions (including France, Italy and the Netherlands), but it has not yet done so in the United States. After its recent trial loss it may want to show that it keeps fighting back.

Apple has also continued to add new products to the list of devices accused in that lawsuit. Three weeks ago, Apple added the Galaxy S III, Note and Note 10.1. It appears that Apple has already served its detailed infringement contentions concerning the S III and Note, but still needs to do so for the Note 10.1. Apple furthermore notes that "the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system" will become one of the accused technologies. That is interesting in light of Google's recent statement on the jury verdict in the first Apple v. Samsung litigation, where Google claimed that "[m]ost of these [patent claims] don't relate to the core Android operating system". I commented on the "core Android" question in a recent post.

Judge Koh will hold a hearing on Wednesday (September 26) to discuss the further management of the second Apple v. Samsung lawsuit she is presiding over. In the meantime, Apple and Samsung will file various post-trial motions in the first one. According to the Korea Times, Apple will seek triple damages: $3 billion. That amount would exceed the total cost of the Curiosity Rover, while the jury's damages award fell short of the cost of reconstructing the Golden Gate Bridge.

I have said it so many times now, this is just some BS rumors but K-A reckon the rumor was spread by Samsung itself to ambush the launch of the iphone 5.

If I was a betting man, I'd bet that this was controlled by them. They've done everything they can to try and bring some attention back toward them during this historic (literally) iPhone launch. Their "It Doesn't Take A Genius" ads suggest that Sammy won't hold back from stooping toward any marketing low to sabotage Apple.

Samsung will take over New York City's Radio City Music Hall on Thursday to unveil its new Galaxy S4 Android smartphone. But thanks to Samsung's marketing team and some leaked images, phone-watchers are starting to put some of the details together ahead of the big reveal. Today Samsung has released the second teaser video for the phone and event. The video picks up where the last one left off - Jeremy Maxwell, a young boy, has the phone in his possession, but Samsung has told him he cannot show it to anyone or take it out of the box. Jeremy does say in the video that it's his "favorite color" and that its "unreal" and "beautiful." That's not all very revealing, but it does imply that the phone will come in a selection of colors. Currently, the Galaxy S 3 comes in a "pebble blue" and "marble white." But beyond Samsung's controlled marketing, other details have started to emerge about the phone. Purported photos of the device have been posted on Chinese forums and discovered by posted by Sammyhub.com. In these photos, the Galaxy S4 appears to have a similar design to the Galaxy Note 2 and a high-resolution 1080p display.

Other rumors have said that the Galaxy S4 phone (Samsung often uses Roman numerals, as in Galaxy S IV) will have an improved camera and a quad-core processor. HTC's One, which was announced last month, will go head-to-head with Samsung's new phone. HTC's new phone has a 4.7-inch, 1080p screen and an aluminum design. Samsung has said that many of the big features will be software-based, and The New York Times reported last week that the phone would have an "eye-scrolling" feature. Users will be able to look down and the phone will do the scrolling for you, the report said. Samsung's Galaxy S3 has a feature that uses the camera to make sure you are still looking at the phone. Called Smart Stay, the screen will turn off if it doesn't see you looking at it. At the end of the teaser video, Jeremy starts getting ready for his "big day" by putting on some "power ties." Something tells us that his big day is the big event on Thursday and that we will all be the first to see what is in his magical box. ABC News will be reporting live from the event, which begins at 6 p.m. ET.

Pics leaked online. Looks like Samsung going conservative with the design. Nothing to write home about.

Bah, finally nothing that special. I rather get the next iPad Mini with Retina display.

I got my Galaxy III like 4 months ago and I'm happy with the phone which mean I will keep the phone..

I am disappointed with the looks but then again phones are more than just fashion accessory.

But what if you could have both? like in the form of the Sony Xperia Z or HTC one?

I didn't complain much a year ago when they released the S3 but seriously now when every other manufacturer trying their best to innovate and using best possible materials for their flagships Samsung is just being really lazy and cheap.
