Huayra [Hot!] Pagani Huayra R

The Pagani Huayra, a successor to the Pagani Zonda, was initially revealed online in a press release on 25 January 2011. It was officially revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The car is named after the Quechua god of wind, Huayra-tata. The engine is a 6.0-litre twin-turbo M158 V12 engine from Mercedes-AMG producing 544 kW (740 PS; 730 hp) and 1,000 N⋅m (740 lb⋅ft) of torque. The Huayra's body is made from carbotanium; a lightweight composition of carbon fibre and titanium. The Huayra has been redesigned from the ground up, but shares many visual qualities with its predecessor. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 235 mph (378 km/h). Only 100 units of the Huayra were produced, each costing £1,000,000 (1.05 million US$) without options.

Horacio himself just officially said that the genesis of the mighty Huayra R will be revealed on November 12 (video below, minute 37:05).

The car will have a bespoke NA engine and if the legendary Zonda R/Revolucion taught us something (CLK-GTR race-derived V12 NA engine, X-Trac 20 ms race sequential gearbox, racing suspensions, Brembo Motorsport brakes, race electronics, 1500+ kg of downforce, 1070 kg dry weight, 800 bhp, DRS, etc..) it has high chances to go down as an absolute monster as well.

Can't wait to see it. (y)

Sounds like more of a rival to the GM T50.

More of a rival to the SCV12 from Lambo?

I will be honest, I didn't see this one ever coming. Zonda R has been the most bonkers racetrack toy, a sequel to it is damn welcome.

Remember how Pagani kept coy about the 6:30 min Ring' lap time of the Zonda R Revolucion? I wonder what this one will do...

According to rumors coming from The Supercar Blog the new NA V12 engine of the Huayra R will be a bespoke unit specifically designed by AMG-HWA which will rev above 9500 rpm and will have a power output of more than 900 hp.
Here below the link to the article.

Also (and this is an opinion of mine) I expect the Huayra R to basically have nothing in common with all the other Huayra versions in the same way the Zonda R shared 20% or less of its parts with the other Zondas.
Moreover, when it came out in 2009 the Zonda R anticipated some design cues of the upcoming Huayra (especially at the front, with the shape of the bonnet and the sharper headlights) and it was considerably different from the road legal Zondas of the time, as it can be observed in the comparing pictures here below.
I honestly expect more or less the same from the Huayra R with respect to the new road-legal Pagani that will probably be unveiled in less than a couple of years from now.

Holy fac. 900hp from a N/A V12. No assistance probably as well?

Do you mean some sort of hybrid assistance?
If so, I don't believe it as to me it wouldn't make any sense for a ferocius and bespoke track beast like this one.
On track downforce, weight, mechanical grip and power delivery matter the most.
In this regard the Zonda R was already fantastic with 750 bhp, 1070 kg of dry weight and 1500+ kg of potential downforce.
Now, with 12+ years of technical development I expect the Huayra R to be even lighter (considering it is NA as well), with more advanced aero and 900+ hp...
If it will be like this, we will talk about a true beast with of course the classic touch of Pagani quality and craftsmanship.

This is gonna be something else, f#cking HWA and AMG ! Can’t wait. This is probably a preview of the engine that will end up in the next pagani hypercar after the huayra

Wow this is going to be a monster, I cant wait to see this thing and its specs. Some prelim info from AMS.

PAGANI HUAYRA R
Pagani plans hardcore athletes with a V12 vacuum cleaner
The Italian sports car manufacturer is planning an exclusive and extreme Huayra offshoot that swaps in its turbocharger but hardly loses any performance.
If Pagani gives one of its models the letter R, then it becomes exclusive. But above all extremely - and extremely quickly. At least that was the case with the Zonda R. It was a non-street-legal racetrack version of the Italo-Boliden, which in 2010 punched a - then - best time of 6: 47.5 minutes in the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring - and quite easily ( here is a look back at the record run at that time ).
"New, specially manufactured suction motor"
Well, a good ten years later, history seems to repeat itself. As various media report unanimously, Pagani is planning another R version - this time based on the Huayra. As can be seen on the website of the specialist medium "Evo", the Pagani Huayra R is also likely to be denied road approval. The same apparently applies to turbochargers, but this should not be understood as a criticism. At least company boss Horacio Pagani announces in this (admittedly quite difficult to consume) video that the drive of the Huayra R is supposed to be a "new, specially made for this purpose naturally aspirated motor" (from about 37:00 minutes).

So is the era of AMG engines coming to an end in the center of a Pagani sports car? The six-liter V12 with double turbocharging currently used in the Huayra - in the equally extreme Huayra offshoot Pagani Imola , the engine delivers 838 hp and a maximum of 1,100 Newton meters - is out of the question for the R. The same applies to the long-discontinued 7.3-liter unit of the Zonda. The Italian auto website "Info Motori" assumes that it will be a direct descendant of the Zonda R engine. And that was not just any, but a 750 PS and a maximum of 710 Newton meters strong version of the V12 from the legendary Mercedes CLK-GTR.

Official unveiling in November
Whichever engine rages between the passenger cell and the rear axle of the Huayra R - it will probably produce over 800 hp. Or even 900 HP, as "Info Motori" speculates? In any case, the Huayra R should have sophisticated aerodynamics, a fairly dynamic chassis, semi-slick tires, a reduced cockpit with roll bar and even more carbon than the previous model variants. We don't know any more at this point in time. We have to wait until November 12th; Pagani will officially present the Huayra R there.

So this vs SCV12, which wins?
Car guys and gals of all ages.

If we are being serious I think the Huyararara R will have the edge since it has 900 something hp, meaning it will likely have a higher rev-range than the SCV12.

So this vs SCV12, which wins?

The SCV12 is much faster (we are talking about seconds per lap) than the FIA Huracan Evo GT3 race car on any circuit and very close to a DTM-like driving experience according to Lamborghini's racing driver Marco Mapelli.
The car is a beast.

However, the Zonda R is a beast as well: on paper, in terms of power-to-weight and also downforce is up there with the SCV12: yes, the SCV12 has slightly more downforce but the Zonda R should be like at least 150 kg lighter.
In terms of suspensions, electronic and gearbox both the Zonda R and the SCV12 have racing equipment, but especially in terms of cinematics the SCV12 should be ahead thanks to its 12 years of tech advantage and the experience of Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
Then there is the Zonda Revolucion, which boasts the same weight of the Zonda R with 800 bhp, DRS and higher levels of downforce: I would honestly say that in the hands of a true capable driver the Revolucion should probably still have to this day the potential to match (and maybe even beat?) the SCV12.

Now, if the Huayra R is going to be as raw as the Zonda R was in terms of project philosophy (i.e. true race-car like), considering the 12 years of evolution in aero downforce/efficiency, the 900+ hp and a weight that has the potential to be very well below that of the Zonda R (we could go at 900+ kg dry here...) I'd honestly say that the Huayra R should have everything to be consistently faster than the SCV12.
