Basically I've to admit, there is some "Schadenfreude" in me, when the F40 gets critizised by car mags ... just because I still think the demise of RWD plarform was a fault ...
When reading the linked verdict, it reads like, if BMW would just have tuned the suspension a lot stiffer, then in this comparison it had got a better rating ... on the other ha...

That happens when a company thinks that it's larger than its customers. They (BMW) do not give a f*ck that this car is a sh*t, the only important thing is that it will sell and it will bring profits because it is 700 Euro cheaper to produce. Idiots.

I don't not believe it... Mostly for 2 reasons:

1/ Plenty of people who are knowledgeable about driving dynamics, and are very much petrol heads, overlook the shortcomings of FWD to find plenty of FWD hot hatches to be not only desirable and iconic, but also capable.

2/ As a 1 series driver, I notice other 1 series drivers, and though I admit, I might be making an assumption, many of them do not look like the kind of people that would have any comprehension of the differences between FWD and RWD, and are certainly unlikely to exploit them in any meaningful fashion... The ones that do, drive 1-er coupes... And BMW will still sell you a small RWD coupe.

F20 did not please me exterior nor interior, but rwd was worth more than its demerits. The new is better looking, but has no usp. I am not sure the badge is enough. But it worked for A Class though.
