296 [2021-] [Hot!] Ferrari 296 GTB - New V6 Hybrid Supercar for 2022

The Ferrari 296 (Type F171) is a two-seater, offered as a GTB coupe and a GTS folding hard-top convertible. It is a plug-in hybrid with a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and its powertrain combines a twin-turbocharged 120-degree bank angle V6, with an electric drive fitted in between the engine and gearbox. The 296 can be driven in electric-only mode for short distances, to comply with use in urban zero-emission zones.
Glad ot see Sport Auto using Auto Motor und Sport's test track (Airfield of Lahr) more recently for straightline performance tests.
It's much more grippier surface than Hockenheimring's parabolica, where they usually measure acceleration and braking. :)

Ferrari Issues Do Not Drive Advisory Over Possible 296 Fuel Leaks!

A fault in a fuel tank connecting pipe may corrode and result in a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.

"Ferrari has issued a do not drive advisory for a number 296 GTS and 296 GTBs over a potential fuel leak that could increase the risk of a fire.

A recall submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on May 8 says that certain 296 models have a fuel tank connecting pipe that can corrode due to unintended contact with the car's high-voltage battery protection cover, which could result in a fuel leak.

Ferrari says 425 cars are affected, and is advising owners to stop driving their vehicles until the fix is completed, despite not receiving any reports of incidents or injuries related to the issue. The company plans to install a new connecting pipe reinforced with a protective sleeve free of charge.

Notices will be mailed to owners on July 7, says the NHTSA. If you think your 296 might be one of the cars that falls under this recall, head on over to the NHTSA's site and punch in your VIN to confirm."

A very lively lap to say the least (not that's necessarily a bad thing). The car rotates into corners eagerly, but it needs more stability. If they put a wing on it in the hotter version, a lot of time could probably be gained. Also I have never seen a lap where a car scraped so badly before, I wouldn't be surprised if the suspension bottoming out had an effect on the stability as well.

326km/h on the straight is the second highest (out of production cars) after the AMG One (337km/h).
