2 Series [Hot!] BMW 2 Series Coupe (G42)

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.
BMWBlog said "the evening" in their article about it, I'm guessing that's "evening" in Europe, so maybe 9-10 hours from now? Just guessing though.

In the majority of cases, BMW has lifted the embargo and published official press packs for new models on Wednesday at 00:01 CEST/CET. Given DST, this currently means 22:01 GMT. For the Americas, it means 17:01 on the east coast and 15:01 on the west coast.

^^
What's next? Judging a kangeroo by how well it swims. The M240i is a GT Sportscar.

Engaging enough for 80% of the population whilst comfortable enough to own as a single car. It does not belong on a track.

Menzel is right.

1700 kg is ok for an SUV but for sporty cars no!
Even more crazy is 1700kg for an entry level ///M sportscar.

it all went wrong at BMW after the fantastic 1M coupe.
the size and weight was acceptable for the 1M. the driving dynamics were awesome.

all they had to do was to make a new 1m coupe. Include carbon roof, lighter racy seats. And maybe 340 hp 4 cil turbo.

It is hart breaking seeing such a nice brand who brought really nice drivers cars going only for heavy daily cars with M badges.

I agree, and I also believe that on a track you can also have a lot of fun with it, knowing how to drive.

The cars are still there, what they don't understand is that the business changed, if you want lightweight and track only, now you have to pay dearly for the Comp, CS, CSL, GTS version, or whatever, the public change, the niche "track only" is still there, but BMW aimed to open up the spectrum to a larger market.
I would also like a modern "e30 325i" and I think that's the 2 series 230i, right?

Menzel looks like a former professional driver who is very into pure race cars, and from the look of him in the video I would say that he retired from racing to be able to consume crystal meth quietly and hang out with @AdvEvo

Haha youre reaction is priceless. This will get you a 2% discount on a new heavy boat.

Bring on a new E30 325i any day. Lovely car drove lots of them!
who needs 450hp plus and 1700kg. The fun is not in a straigh line anymore for the police and the government it s cashing fines. You need to have fun in cars which you can enjoy on low speed also. A car like E30 325i was such a car. Small and nimble and not the weight of a truck.

Those days will not return, the "cheap" and small 6 cylinders (320/320i/325i).
Today a 2,000cc inline six is unthinkable, in their time they were incredible and the most desirable but I never thought they would become a "holy grail".

It only remains to make one yourself, which would be fun, or be thankful that there is still a small BMW coupe with a six in front, despite what it weighs, the 230i weighs "only" 350kg more than the 325i, due to safety regulations and higher size etc but it has 80hp more, what doesn't fit me is that it's not a six and in that case any Mazda 3, or Toyota, Kias etc. sedans that come with bicycle wheels can be on winding roads all the fun you need skidding from side to side all the time

A WRC car runs 8x18 wheels with approx 225 wide tires. Are those also bicycle wheels?
I was not being sarcastic, on the contrary, a rented Hyundai Accent with 175 made me lose two kilos in a 875 curves mountain descent, that's what I mean.
The E30 325i originally rode Michelins 195/65/14 if I remember correctly

I think the sweetspot for grip and fun is between 215 and 235 wide Tires.

any wider and youre car is riding on rails and you need insane speeds to have fun with the car. This is impossible on public roads. You need a race track then.

Of course a Gt4 RS is fun with 295 wide tires. But you need a track to get full use of the grip of those wide tires.

i can have more daily fun on the road with my Yaris GR and GR86 then with my M2 competition or GT4 RS. On big tracks like spa you better can take the m2 or GT4.

This makes me reflect on why, after 3.5 years of ownership from new, I am struggling to replace my M140i. 1,450kg, 225 & 245 width tyres, 500nm torque at 1,250rpm makes it easy to agitate the car and get an adrenaline kick without exceeding 50mph.

The most negative review I have ever seen from Menzel.
Weight, weight and again weight
0:32 is priceless
