I'd love to try something different but like most who's entire household has Apple products be that iPads, iPods and iPhones we are sharing music, apps, etc and stuff like FaceTime reinforce our commitment to Apple. I've personally held off changing my iPhone5 for the 5S at the moment but have ordered one up for one of my managers and will see how much different it is before making that jump but if I were totally honest I feel the iPhone is no longer the revolutionary product it once was and they really need to make a major change next time round or they will be left behind by either Samsung or Microsoft I reckon.

Apple has sold out of all models and colors of it new iPhone 5S device less than 48 hours after it was released last Friday morning. According to inventory information from the Online Apple Store
, all variations the flagship iPhone are currently out of stock in all 11 countries that the device was released in this weekend, reports Apple Insider. According to Apple’s online stores, none of the iPhone 5S variations are expected to ship before next month. Many analysts, including Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster, predicted that the iPhone 5S would be in short supply due to production constraints. Jefferies analyst Peter Misek wrote several weeks ago that Apple’s suppliers are encountering “terrible” yields on the new fingerprint scanner.
Although all colors of the iPhone 5S are currently sold out, various reports and online resale prices seem to indicate that Apple’s gold-colored iPhone 5S was by far the most popular choice for consumers. Although many industry watchers predicted that the gold-colored iPhone 5S would be popular in Asia, it appears that the worldwide popularity of this particular color caught Appleoff guard.
According to unnamed supply chain sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s suppliers have been asked to increase their production of gold-colored iPhones by one-third in order to meet this unexpected demand. Although the various gold-colored iPhone 5S models were the hottest items, the other colors and models of the iPhone 5S also soon sold out. Apple Insider reports that the 64GB “Space Gray” iPhone 5S was the second-highest seller after the gold-colored models, while the silver-colored models appeared to be the least popular. Lots of stock available here down under! I wonder how real these shortages are and how much is actually deliberate marketing hype? I don't see the point in the 5S when the 5 with IOS7 is so good.

Not so sure about that. It may be marketing, but Apple has been saying they had supply problem before the 5S even came out. I know they were looking for new suppliers in the case of the screens considering their issues with Samsung.

I thought Sharp and Sony makes the screen for apple, and Samsung makes the processor (confirmed). Currently Apple has no choice but to stick with Samsung because nobody else can meet Apple's list of demands. I also don't see why journalists kept over simplifying things by using these figures and make comparison based on them.
How many years has Apple been doing this now? Can a company such as Apple keep getting the supply wrong at every single i phone launch?

So true.... I was thinking the same thing especially after hearing that someone purchased one for $10,000 (gold iPhone 5S) on eBay.
What makes it so stupid is that the phone will be available again in October.
