Ok, while I may not totally appreciate the design, I really appreciate thoughtful design innovation, case in point: the center of the S6 19" wheel.

I don't know what you'd call this, but it's very original in its design and purpose? The latter I do not know exactly what the intent is, but it almost could pass as a theft determinant for pesky would be theives who are looking to jack your rims. Good luck!

His point is absolutely, utterly valid. This thread is a forum for members' appreciation of the new, fabulous S6. Anyone who doesn't like it can take their appreciation (or lack thereof) somewhere else.

I have absolutely no idea why certain members choose to air their inane, uninformed and unsubstantiated opinion in a thread in such a hostile manner, thereby precluding true appreciators of the car from participating in the desired spirit of this forum.

I'm watching those protagonists and martinbo is in the mood for a banning or two or three...

Although the horsepower rating is similiar to the M5 E39, I would take this S6 over it. It looks the business I think, especially with those daylights. The interior hands down beats the competitors out there right now (BMW has a thing or two to learn about ergonomics from Audi... that is something I really really envy). The wheels aren't really to my taste though. I'm not a huge fan of those complicated star designs (same with the regular 911 rims) and I would have much prefered the V8 in there, but overall, it's a good car.

Anyhow, I'll give the S6 a 3.5, but since it's not there, I'll vote 3. It's not so amazingly different to the normal A6 that it's surprising, yet it still looks a bit nicer. A solid improvement.

I have no qualms about the performance, it's not meant to be a horsepower fighter. The 'S' range isn't a purely sporting range, but more of a comfortable performance car. 420hp is plenty for me. Those with a penchant for more can wait for the RS6, or go buy some American muscle and bolt on a supercharger or three. If horsepower for dollars is your measure of 'value', then be my guest. But the interior is much better here, and the attention to detail is what makes me like Audi as well as the other Germans, even 'value oriented' VW.

I knew I was going to hear about that comment. But I know its a joke (hence the smily) so Im not going to lose any sleep over it. Hey Martin, Isnt their a pole in this thread to allow others to voice their opinion (valid or not) and are'nt opinions exactly what forums are about. If it was just about admiring the car then frankly the thread would be rather boring, Dont you think?

P.S. I dont have a snide contempt for Bum-man but I do have a contempt for trolling which he did with the BMW fan boys comment.

Just a thought but the first S6(Ur 1995) Had 227 hp up from the A6 which had 172 hp. Also, the previous S6(C5 2003) Had 340 hp and the A6 4.2 had 300 hp.
So this is not far from tradition. In fact the C6 A6 4.2 had 335 hp and this new S6 has 420 hp. So... we have a 55hp, 40hp, and finally a 85hp increase, so going by history this is quite an improvement.

I wasn't Audi bashing just these hardcore fans can't take critism about a car that some believe and have the right to believe is pointless...when the new roadster was unvieled i didn't cry because some people thought it wasn't good enough...there is just a bunch of babies on this forum that get whine if someone goes agianst there beliefs...and that pissed me off so than I wrote what's true BMW RULES

no this thread is about our thoughts on the horrible new S6... if we don't want to praise a car that doesn't deserve it it should be fine...the germancarfans forum never used to be like this...if everybody liked the damn car there would be not much to discuss....so far the arguments against the car seem more valid then those for it so what's the big deal

We already established that Audi's RS cars compete with M and AMG, the S cars have no competitors from their rival marques.
