GMA GMA T.50

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) is a British automobile manufacturer of sports cars based in Shalford, Surrey, England. Founded in 2017 by former Formula 1 and McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, the company's initial focus is on limited-run hand-built supercars. Its T.50 car entered production in 2023. Oh, nice. But seeing that they are still only at 5000RPM and haven't yet started road testing, I think there is pretty much 0% chance now that the first cars will start production in January 2022 as promised. They only have 5 months left and if they wanted to meet the January deadline, they would have to basically complete the development and start making pre-production cars in 2 months. That's not gonna happen. More likely the production is still 10-12 months away.

It will be interesting to see what it sounds like at red line. Many circuits have strict noise limits. Therefore I expect the car to be respectfully muffled.

More likely the production is still 10-12 months away.
Possibly even 12-18months depending on stability and reliability challenges encountered. However, I don't think that many buyers are in a rush to receive the car as it will be more of a collectors item than a daily.

And that's a pity because, for all its purity of concept and mechanical virtue, the styling is already looking dated. The headlights are far too big and the majority of the design is far too reminiscent of the F1. This car is a product of its creator's own paradigm. The drive, of course, is expected to be out of this world.

Although the matte black prototype resembles and MR2 head on, you have got to clap for Gordon Murray. He has secured for £60m in deposits for the development of his car.

Looking at the delayed AMG One, Murray must be pleased that his car is powered by an ICE rather than extremely costly and complex batteries and electric motors that he has limited understanding of.

A terrible video from GMA with pretty much nothing being shown except the car going around at a leisurely pace and Dario reverting back to painfully acting again, but don't despair! The T.50 will make an appearance at the Goodwood Member's Meeting this weekend! It should do five laps around the Goodwood circuit on Saturday and another five on Sunday - and presumably it should be at the full 12k RPM.

The car is still in pretty early development stage, so let's hope it doesn't end up like the Valkyrie earlier this year :p.

I think it was a fantastic video. We got close up glimpse of prototypes with interiors. The three prototypes look like release candidates that will eventually be sold as special edition prototypes.

Millbrook is a proving ground. Rather than testing the vehicles they might have been there to test suspension, anti roll bara, brakes, gearbox or to validate data from their simulator.

The V12 start up and howling at the end sounded glorious.

Well, for fans of the car like us there is always something new to glean from one of these videos, but... we got all the shots of interiors in Ep.11 and we got all the engine noises in Ep.12. The Ep.13 was supposed to be about how the car drives and we got pretty much nothing except some poor attempts at acting from Dario. He's already driven the car several times before the shoot - as you can actually hear him say in Ep.11 when he is talking to the other two test drivers - so it's kinda cringe. In that ep he actually also gets way more into detail about how the car drives as well. And to top it off, they just have him drive the car like my grandma. Yeah, they are just testing it and what not, but just for the video, would it really hurt so much to do a few drifts... or at least see the car being pushed in any way? Let's hope we get a better showing at Goodwood.

Dario's endless praise will get tiring if the next episodes don't include any new or exciting footage.

What everyone is waiting for is how the car sounds at 12,000rpm. However Murray might reserve sharing this until the exhaust system have been fully developed, tuned and drivetrain has been certified.

Because of the low production volume and sheer expense of the car, I don't think that noise regulations for smaller racing tracks will be taken into account. The rich who will buy this car will book private days at F1/Porsche Cup circuits where cars like the 812 with a Novitec exhaust can howl freely.

Ep. 12 - posted here - is how the car will sound at 12k RPM. The engine is in the Ultima mule, but apart from that it's exactly the same as it is in the prototypes - that's the whole point, after all. I don't think that we'll get something that's too different on the production cars. They might play with how much the bypass valves open and and at what exact RPM, but mechanically the exhaust is very likely gonna stay identical.

The car didn't sound that loud from the outside, but on camera it's often hard to tell. With the system they are running, even if they open the bypass valves fully, some of the exhaust gasses are still gonna go through the muffler, and the car is obviously running catalytic converters that also muffle the sound, so it's still pretty far from straight piped. That said, it's not uncommon for supercars to trigger track sound limits even then. But yeah, I don't think that GMA are gonna be that bothered by that. Interestingly, for the T.50S, the track only version, they are gonna offer different swappable mufflers depending on what tracks the owner will want to drive on.

Nice. However, with 330Nm available at 2,500rpm there won't be a need to rev out the gear unless you are aiming for maximum speed or..........noise

Hopefully I will hear it at good wood festival of speed next year :)

XP9, taken at Goodwood Members' Meeting. XP5 was also present and did a few laps around the Goodwood circuit with Dario at the wheel. Also, Dario revealed that he bought one! :)
