GMA GMA T.50

GMA is a British maker founded in 2017 by Gordon Murray. It builds analog, V12-powered hypercars like the T.50 and T.33. Official: GMA
Yeah, that was perhaps the most revealing part of the interview. And not in a good way.

As we know, they are planning to build a completely new HQ and production facility at Windlesham (obtained a build permit like a week ago), so I have been wondering what sort of deal they've struck with a major manufacturer to allow them to design relatively cheap sports cars, while keeping their production volumes low. If they got some sort of a licensing deal like they originally wanted, that would see a major manufacturer producing the cars that GMA designed in volume, while GMA themselves would only make a handful of them and that would be sort of like the top trim of that model.

But based on what Murray says, so far nobody showed any interested in that. So the next car they are producing is also gonna be super low production volume (no more than 100) - and as a result it's also gonna be extremely expensive. Even if it's not a halo supercar like the T.50, if we are talking about paying for the development and production with only 100 cars sold, I don't see how any of their cars are ever gonna cost less than hundreds of thousands of pounds/euros/dollars. Which is kinda disappointing from the perspective of someone who might be interested in buying some of their cars, but also I am not even sure it's a business model that works. Who is gonna pay, let's say, 300k euro or something for some car - no matter how exquisitely engineered - that's not a supercar/extreme luxury car?

which is essentially a British version of Pagani and Koenigsegg business model.

Not really. All the T.50s will be manufactured in one year and then few months later GM already plans on producing another model - and that model is not another hypercar. Pagani and Koenigsegg only make hypercars and the rate at which they are producing them is much lower. Pagani has been making the Huyara since 2011. They didn't finish making it in 2012 and then went on to produce some other non-hypercar. Koenigsegg has basically been making one model for 30 years and continually improving it - but haven't even made 250 cars in total over those 30 years.

I really have a hard time seeing where GMA fit in the automotive landscape. If their business model does work, it's gonna be a completely new and unique thing. But really, unless they get some of those licensing deals, I would be more likely to say that they won't last much past the next model. My fingers are extremely strongly crossed that doesn't happen, though.

Wow this has nearly 750hp with the ram induction and only 852kg!!! It has a massive power to mass ratio but with only 3.9ltr capacity. What a car!!

No one's talking about the crap steering "wheel".

Now hoonigan action with that thing... Sure, sure - it's a dedicated track weapon but a little skid here and there would practically be obligatory in such a machine.

So this, vs Valkyrie vs AMG One on track. That will make one hell of a magazine test.

K'segg plan on building 80 Regera's, 125 Jeskos and 300 Gemeras, they are also planning a cheaper vehicle which they will build in the 1000's per year.

Nice line through the Hammerhead! (y)

It's crazy how quickly the engine starts, although the idle seems on the high side. The rev counter is really confusing, so I am not sure if it's supposed to be 1000RPM, or 1500RPM. Either way, it's still an absolute prototype, so no point overthinking it. Can't wait for 12k RPM... although that might still be some months away...

Otherwise the car looks pretty good in the flesh and a lot more like the F1!
