Going there but still much has to be done. Sales maybe go up but poor profitability (of the automotive division) is still an issue. Something BMW & AUDI don't have to deal with.

The song says it all, mate! :D
There's the awakening of the sleeping "beauty"(LOL beauty!?)
"So far away" in both sales and profits yet the result is good for MB :)

Great for BMW AG:)

Bottom+top line and profits aside I like it that the 3x German Giants are all doing well, great for German cars and that is the actual bottom line or then what it's about here on GERMANCARFORUM:cool:(y)

BMW highlights (YTD 2013):
  • Demand for the BMW X1 remained strong with 116,451 vehicles sold in the first nine months
  • The BMW X1 has proven to be yet another success story for the BMW Group with over 500,000 units delivered to customers since its launch at the end of 2009
  • The BMW X3 continued to be strong, climbing 5.7% to 113,945 vehicles
  • The BMW 3 Series increased sales by 27.6% year-to-date, with a total of 365,772 vehicles delivered
  • The BMW 5 Series reaffirmed its clear segment leadership with 270,902 units sold
  • The BMW 6 Series continued to perform well with 20,360 vehicles delivered year-to-date

So far this year the Bavarian marque sold 1,209,598 cars which translate into a nine percent sales jump thanks to an increase in demand (aside from 3-Series) especially for X1, X3, but also for 5-Series and 6-Series models.
MINI also recorded its best-ever September by selling 31,313 cars (up by 2.5 percent), while BMW Motorrad reached an all-time high in September by selling 9,265 units (0.5 percent hike).
Rolls-Royce was the only branch of the conglomerate who failed to post an increase in sales so far this year as they delivered 2,300 units in the first three quarters of 2013, compared to Q1-Q3 2012 when they sold 1.1 percent more cars (2,326 units). However, Rolls Royce's September sales were up by 0.5 percent compared to the same month of 2012.
A more detailed situation can be found in the attached press release.

Good news for both BMW and Mercedes' fans. September was the highest ever for MB as reported earlier in this forum and now BMW is having the best September also. I wonder if the two German giants are gaining on the expense of other luxury marques or the overall industry sales for the luxury brands are going up. And its good news that the 6 series is doing so well which makes me wonder one more time how the SL is performing in sales.

RR is down oh but just by 26 units. I guess the Phantom is getting old now :).

Mercedes-Benz Oz breaks sales record

A-Class and affordable AMGs drive sales surge for 2013 so far – with full year tally certain to exceed 20,000
Mercedes-Benz Australia has overtaken its own previous annual sales record two months prior to the end of 2013 – and looks set to be the first prestige brand in Australia selling more than 20,000 cars in one year.
"Our previous record was 18,464, in 2010," Mercedes-Benz spokesman David McCarthy told motoring.com.au yesterday. Vehicle number 18,465 for this year is being delivered today, according to the Senior Manager of Corporate Communications for the importer.
By averaging just under 2000 units a month, the prestige brand is certain to reach and exceed 20,000 sales for this year.
"We will be the first luxury brand to get there," McCarthy said.
New product is naturally the mainstay of Benz's escalating sales figures. The A-Class has been in short supply, but it and the new CLA have played an important role in the company's success this year. Sales for the new E-Class are also improved and the company is holding a substantial order bank for the upcoming W222 S-Class. But it's not just the new product that's behind the sales impetus.
"I can see that the price/value strategy that we adopted for the C-Class is paying big dividends," McCarthy observed.
With over two months of the year remaining, the importer's total sales figure for the year may come close to 24,000.
Analysis of sales for the year to date show that as many as 70 per cent of A-Class and CLA buyers are "new to the brand," in the words of the Benz exec. Finding untapped buyers for new product has clearly worked handsomely, with the two models combined anticipated to contribute close to 6000 units.
Contributing to the total will be 1500 performance-focused AMG models, of which over 500 have been the C 63, as at the end of September.
