I want to add that the car industry is under attack right now in Germany, and obviously from the wrong people. The Green Party in particular not only want to destroy the German car industry, they want to destroy Germany.

And sadly, these complete morons somehow have so much support right now. It boggles my mind how anyone can vote for these idiots.

Here’s a short list of car-related atrocities which these insane extremist politicially correct social justice warriors want to push through if they attain power in Germany.

The morons of Germany, the Green Party, want to:

1) Ban driving on weekends...

2) Ban all forms of automotive advertising...

3) Reduce the city speed limits from 50 km/h to 30 km/h...

4) Introduce a top speed of 80 km/h on the Autobahn with driving bans every 14 days...

5) Ban vehicles with a high fuel consumption...

6) Ban old trucks and all SUVs...

Here some more weird rules they want to introduce...

1) Ban airplanes from flying at night and jack up the price of flight tickets...

2) Ban the salting of streets during the winter...

3) Complate ban of alcohol consumption...

4) Legalize biological weed...

5) Legalize all forms of Islam in Germany (even the radical stuff...)

6) Ban Reggae concerts... (WTF!?)

7) Ban all advertising for sugar-based sweets...

8) Ban the consumption of meat on Thursdays (I have no idea why...)...

And if you thought that wasn’t extreme enough, the Green Party also wants to introduce some weird taxes...

Bettensteuer (Bed Tax)
Fettsteuer (Fat Tax)
Fleischssteuer (Meat Tax)
Flugticketsteuer (Flight Ticket Tax)
Integrationssteuer (Integration Tax - for migrants, I assume...)
Kultursteuer (Culture Tax)
Plastiktütensteuer (Plastic Bag Tax)
Reichensteuer (Taxation of Wealthy People)
Sozialsteuer für Selbständige (Social Tax for Self-Employed People)
Strafsteuer für Konfessionslose (Tax for Atheists and Non-Religious People)
Stromkonzerngewinnsteuer (Taxation of Energy Companies)
Vermögenssteuer (Taxation of Personal Wealth)
Zuckersteuer (Sugar Tax)
CO2-Abgabe (CO2 Fee)
Flugverkehrsabgabe (Flight Traffic Fee)
Google-Streetview-Abgabe (Google Street View Fee)
Handykaufabgabe (Smartphone Purchase Fee)
Internetabgabe (Internet Fee aka NO MORE FREE INTERNET)
Shoppingcenterabgabe (Shopping Center Fee)
Stickoxidabgabe (NOx Fee)
Tourismusabgabe (Tourism Fee)
Wasserabgabe (Water Fee)

Here’s my question: Who the hell votes for these #$%*@!?

There are so many WTFs there I don't know where to start so I'll start with how do legalize weed but ban reggae concerts? That's the only way I can enjoy a reggae concert. ;)

I created this new thread within the "News & Debate" section as to keep automotive related threads politics-free.

Feel free to discuss Christian's post here, but please keep the rest of the forums politics-free!

Thank you.

Wait, what?! Is this for real? Where is this coming from and how can the German people support any of this?!

Then again we saw what happens in America when you systematically defund schools...

“The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” - Winston Churchill

The Green Party is my most hated politicial party in Germany. Their leadership is full of school- and college-dropouts who lack a realistic outlook on given situations.

During the World Cup 2018 in Russia these people got pissed off that Germans were waving the German flag!

They also got upset that Nutella (you know, the maker of that tasty hazelnut chocolate spread...) was able to advertise during the World Cup and target children. They wanted to ban Ferrero (the maker of Nutella) from advertising this product. WTF!? I mean everyone knows that too much sugar is harmful, but enjoying something sweet in moderation never hurt anyone and is good for the soul!

Oh yeah, there are several pedophiles in this political party who are - here it comes - campaigning for the legalization of sex between an adult and a child. Don’t believe me? Google “Volker Beck sex with children.” Absolutely disgusting, that man and his supporters.

There are several websites which inform you about the dangers and insanity of this political party, but my favorite is this one (in German).

Grüne

I despise this political party and the garbage they promote. In Germany they are known as the Verbotspartei, literally “the political party that wants to ban everything.” So true.

I'm quite worried to see how the world will end up end in 10....scratch that... 5 years. It seems like most nations (developed & undeveloped) are on a crash course towards unreversible doom.

Whether it's the politics, potlical correctness, youth culture, infiltration of technology on human interaction, sudden violence/terrorism, or global climate change we are royally f*u*cked, excuse my language. We've already become dangerously too numb to disasters.

It Will be fine, either people will get their shit together or a bunch of folks will have to die like they do with regularity if you check history and then the rest will get their shit together.
Or there is the 3rd option we f#ck up thing to the point of no return, in that case everyone is smoked and that’s it, it was a good run.

3rd option won’t happen though, as humans are very keen on not dying, and there are some breakthroughs in tech every year that will help tackle these new world promblems that didn’t exist before.
Each generation/era has its own battles, no one went under before and they won’t now either.

It is becoming all the more difficult to assess just which party is most dangerous. The so-called "self-proclaimed moral superior instance, liberal progressive" dictatorship of The Greens ? The devoid of any capability to conduct pragmatic Realpolitik-anchored agenda, woefully intellectually deficient and increasingly radicalized right populist AfD ? The now absolutely nondescript, arrogantly aloof 3 monkey-like current CDU/CSU/SPD coalition government ? Or can the malaise be blamed on the hair-raisingly incomprehensible decisions and verdicts of our constitutional courts ? Our bug and parasite-infested legal system in general ?

Yep-in terms of sociopolitics, we Germans are living in our own little, self-created lalala F***topia. And frankly, I see absolutely NOTHING on the horizon that can evoke an at least remote hope of betterment. My prediction: the next general election will bring a so-called "Jamaika Coalition" (Christian Union/Green/Free Democrats) that will result in nothing more than a state of utter complacency and the further erosion of Germanys' status as a player on the European as well as global stage.

Helmut Schmidt and Franz-Josef Strauss are nothing but the names of airports nowadays. Sad beyond belief.

Lol how many % did they have in the last election ?

Too much.

Some people vote for them because of their animal rights or anti-smoking crusade, which I can sympathize with - but I draw the line when it comes to destroying German industry and German jobs.

The car industry is cruicial to Germany. The Autobahn is crucial to German cars as non-Germans perceive German cars to be made for the Autobahn and thus safe at high speeds, fast and with good handling (which are all true). Imagine if these idiots come to power and set a speed limit of 80 km/h on the Autobahns. For me that woudl be a nightmare.

Interesting topic.
Anyone know what happened to our sister-site (forget the name)
a few years ago? we were free to discuss all kinds of subjects like this.

Which ones? And why?

In Norway we have the following

Flugticketsteuer (Flight Ticket Tax)
Plastiktütensteuer (Plastic Bag Tax)
Reichensteuer (Taxation of Wealthy People)
Sozialsteuer für Selbständige (Social Tax for Self-Employed People)
Vermögenssteuer (Taxation of Personal Wealth)
Zuckersteuer (Sugar Tax)
CO2-Abgabe (CO2 Fee)
Flugverkehrsabgabe (Flight Traffic Fee)

the WHY is because they can.

Some years ago, I bought a little house near Stockholm. Sweden (Scandinavia and the Baltic region, in general) have a very soothing effect on me. What I particularly like about those folks is their rationality and their general openness despite being rooted in strong tradition. And while taxes are considered evil by many in Germany (because many do not differentiate taxes and welfare contributions and therefore also don't see that the former is kinda 'fair' while the latter is not), my Scandinavian peers have a very healthy view on their tax duties (that come with their privileges).

Why does this sound so familiair? Oh wait, it's like this the Netherlands too. Taxes on cars are maybe a bit out of control in Norway, but for the rest they have a fine, fine system the world can be jealous of.

Soooo.... now that we have a political thread. Lets have some fun and start a religious thread as well. And one about Trump. And maybe batshit crazy Erdogan? We can have half the forum banned before the end of 2018 with these threads! (AKA, I hate these political things. They have no place on this forum.)

I can agree with a tax on sugar and plastic bags. Expensive sweets means people will consume less of them and that's better for their health. The only sugary dessert I enjoy is Lindt Edelnougat chocolate. It's expensive, and I wouldn't mind it becoming more expensive. It's an occasional treat for me so the price is not important to me. Same with plastic bags; I avoid them in fact. When I go shopping I have "cloth sacks" which I take with me. Very practical and reusable for decades.

A CO2 fee is unfair and unrealistic because it can't be avoided (for now). Industries produce goods and CO2 is just a byproduct of the production process. We can work to reduce it, but at the moment we cannot fully eliminate it. Just yesterday on the radio I heard that the EU went full idiot mode (as usual) and wants to reduce CO2 in Europe by 45% - instead of the 30% they set for 2020. Gee, thanks, EU. This means more unrealistic requirements, increased costs and this is one reason why car makers literally cheated on emissions; because unrealistic and unscientific requirements.

A social tax for self-employed people is also... WHY? They already pay taxes. :D

Seriously, a tax for people who are self-employed reminds me Ursula von der Leyen, who also wanted to introduce this in Germany claiming that people who are self-employed are "successful and wealthy". I know types like her - if she wants a professional photograph of her family she will talk the photographer down to doing it for a hunger pay. And then she claims that these people are "successful and wealthy" and need to pay extra fees/taxes...
