It says 7G-Tronic for the 612 6L engine. So the AMG 65 is FINALLY getting a 7 speed? I sure hope so. That 5 speed is outdated as all hell.

Dunno, it'd be a little late for Mercedes to engineer the 7-speeder for it's high-torque engines when the 9-speeder is in the works and probably debut soon after the new S-Class. Unless of course the introduction of the 9-speeder is delayed. Maybe Mercedes just wants to simplify things and not having to engineer a stop-start system and beef up the 9-speeder at the same time. But I would have thought the 9-speeder is engineered for high-torque capability from the very outset...........I'm puzzled.

I really don't think that the current RR or even the upcoming Bentley truck can win against the 65 G-Class.

So in the "Ultimate Garage" thread we have here on GCF, I said that the LR Defender would be my off-roader of choice. I may have to change my mind to this. But I'd rather have it outfitted so it wasn't so luxed-out. The interior would be something that would be easy to clean and have a stout and efficient diesel.

Even though this is so out of my range, I'm glad that M-B still akes and updates the Gelandenwagen (sp?). Too bad most of the hollywood/beverly hill milfs only use it for their latte runs. Such a waste of potential.
