2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni
2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder
2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster Limited Edition

Even in the rarefied world of exotic cars, Lamborghinis are special. They are bold. Exclusive. And they make no excuses as they so beautifully embody the Italian company's deep passion for looking good and going fast. Make that super fast.

Indeed, when a Lamborghini goes by, anybody with a pulse notices.

And since the late '60s, one man at the Sant'Agata Bolognese carmaker has made sure that every model since the Miura has been infused with all the unadulterated driving spirit you'd expect of a Lamborghini. His name: Valentino Balboni. Hired by the company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini and recently retired, Balboni established his legend as the factory's chief test driver over the past 40 years. And it is only fitting that the latest Lamborghini bears his name: The rear-drive Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni.

When we heard that Balboni would be at Pebble Beach for the Monterey Weekend, we invited him and his car to Southern California. Lamborghini went more than one better, supplying the man, the machine, and a Gallardo Spyder and the insanely fast Murciélago SV and a Murciélago Roadster.

On the following pages you will find the first full road tests of the Gallardo Balboni and the Murciélago SV, plus impressions of the topless versions and a sit-down interview with Balboni himself.

Enjoy.

Still stunning cars. The SV670 is sick at 2.8 sec 0-60 mph!

Superleggera is gone from the U.S. market for 2010, it was a one or two model year car.

These machines are good enough to drive them 24-7... even if I've to stay away from sex in that time! :usa7uh:

^As soon as I say the thread title I said to myself Dasilva is going to love this. :D

When it comes to Lamborghini, I don't see how anyone could not like them. I still love some of the old models too.

Loved the Diablo and the Countach, the latter of which is probably the most recognized supercar of all time.

I think they mean 4 of the newest Lambos. They are hardly the best. C'mon, is everyone forgetting about the Miura, Countach, original Diablo SV?

Given these cars are off the hook.

I'd take the modern ones over the old ones, but that's just me.:D

I'm not saying I'll take the older ones over the new ones. But speaking historically for Lambo's, all these different versions of the same cars is hardly "the best ever".

LOL, Road and Track is only saying that these are four of the best, not the four best.

Of course the Countach, Miura, Jalpa, and for me the LM002 all matter.
