F1 Formula 1 - 2024 Season

Formula 1 news, races, teams, drivers, technology, strategy, and discussion.
He’d be 40 by the time he effectively switches to Ferrari. I don’t know if he’ll find the necessary motivation to continue. The perspective of an 8th title seems to get farther & farther away. This move will most likely benefit the image & financials of both parties, but it remains to be seen if it will yield any remarkable performance.

For instance, upon return with Mercedes, Schumacher never managed to impress ever again, nor he managed to win a race. Alonso seems to be fighting on all fronts, but similarly, it barely makes a lasting impression. And Hamilton is simply not the type of driver that stays in F1 just for pure fun and nothing else more.

Ferrari is in a deep crisis and Vasseur barely managed to put a few things into order last year. They had perspectives to win in the last two seasons, but they failed in putting up a comprehensive strategy to succeed. The technical package did not help them either. There‘s not much optimism for a miracle set to happen in 2024 or 2025.

So, it looks that the odds are pretty much against a successful pairing between LH and Scuderia Ferrari. I am all but convinced it will work. 2026 couldn’t come sooner and when it does, it could well be too late for Hamilton, despite the fact that Scuderia could eventually come up with a successful winning formula.

According to various reports, Hamilton is all set to join Ferrari from 2025. If this happens, will he win the championship with Ferrari? What do you guys think?
Absolutely NO.

While Carlos and Charles did lots of mistakes , the team also did so many too . Starting from poor strategy , technical problems , even pit stop errors...

The problem on the team is bigger than the drivers....

UPDATE : Ferrari stock up by almost 10% after the Hamilton news...What the heck...

That is almost 7 billions added....

With Lewis Hamilton set to join Ferrari in 2025, ex-Mercedes F1 boss James Vowles, reflects on the sporting icon's skill on and off the track.

Having previously worked with Michael Schumacher, James compares the two great drivers and explains the dynamics of working for Mercedes F1.

Seems to be official.

Oh wow. Did not expect that. Weird, I somehow feel sad. Was such a long and fruitful relationship.

Maybe I am wrong, I can't see how anyone comes out on top here. But guessing Hamilton knows something about Ferrari's 2026 car, and hoping to do what he did with the Mercedes move in 2013 before 2014 the rules change.

No I don’t think he can win unless he’s in the best car.

Don’t think so. First Ferrari must improve massively, and then he must beat Leclerc. The biggest obstacle will be the first IMO

Thank you to Lewis for all the memories , records and domination. What a thing it was to behold. I wish him the best going forward.

But make no mistake , it’s Mercedes for life!

This is quite interesting.Because lots of people are fans of Hamilton , but also Ferrari , not MB .

Ferrari merch will sell like cakes...

Excactly, this is just about merch. Other than this there is nothing to win with this move.

100%. Last time Ferrari won WDC was in 2008. 2007 for WCC. Red Bull looks(are) damn unstoppable with Verstappen in his prime. Hopefully Lewis can at least have fun by fighting for race wins. He’s won 7 championships and have nothing to prove. Therefore a move to Ferrari is worth considering and is a win win for both teams. Ferrari are sexy and Lewis are sexy. Car buyers can not spec €60,000 paint jobs with the added value of meeting Lewis Hamilton in the paddock.

However there will be a major cultural shock for Lewis. Italian energy and emotions are drastically different to those of British. It will be interesting to observe how will the reunion goes and which engineers will join Lewis.

Schumacher came out of a four-year retirement to race. Not remotely comparable.

The highest ranked non-Red Bull driver last season, yet it's apparently to sell "merch"? 👍

Hahaha good point. Despite not challenging for last year's title or winning a race, it's easy to forget that Lewis collected a mad amount of points.

Given the significant contribution to Ferrari's revenue that licensing brings, it's actually not unreasonable to consider that Ferrari factored this in when figuring out how many dump trucks they needed to deliver the money to Lewis's bank account.

Even if I would not say this is the reason , I would not ignore it

Ferrari is one of the best selling merch in the industry.

As far as I know , almost half of Ferrari revenue is from merchandise ...

Yes, this is a pure business move IMO, Hamilton’s name will bring a lot of cash to Ferrari.
They don’t need Hamilton to win the championship. If Ferrari finally has a winning car, Leclerc (and Sainz) is more than capable of bringing home the championship. There seems to be an ok harmony between Leclerc and Sainz, I doubt we will see the same harmony between Leclerc and Hamilton.

Well, Hamilton now is a 40 yo guy, so if he beats Leclerc, he can always hide behind the fact that Hamilton has way more experience. And I doubt he will stay a lot in Ferrari. Or certainly less than Leclerc.
