The first official images of Volkswagen's range-topping Golf variant have emerged online - now in its 4th iteration under the "R" moniker. As with its predecessors, Golf R carries a bespoke styling package - front and rear bumpers, wheels and exhaust outlets - to differentiate it from its lesser sibling, the Golf GTI. Technical details are scant at present but the word on the asphalt is that the Golf R continues with the turbocharged 2.0 liter engine and four-wheel drive recipe first seen in the previous generation model. It's expected that the powerplant is the same as that present in the Audi S3 - with around 300 hp (221 kW) and somewhere in the region of 380 - 400 Nm of torque.
