Oct. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Sepp Blatter, the president of soccer's world governing body FIFA, crashed his $186,000 sports car on the weekend while driving to his home in the Swiss canton of Valais, Germany's Bild Zeitung reported today.
Blatter, en route from Zurich in his Mercedes SL 63 AMG, clipped a car he was overtaking after coming out of a tunnel, Bild said. The sports car then scraped a Volkswagen Golf in the oncoming lane. The Golf swerved onto the verge and flipped over, leaving the driver hurt and Blatter uninjured, the newspaper said.
The number plates on Blatter's car were removed shortly after the accident, Bild reported.
Hans Klaus, FIFA's communications director, confirmed in a telephone interview that there was an accident though he declined to comment on the details. ``We're happy nothing worse happened. Mr. Blatter is well and working.''
