599 [2006-2012] Ferrari takes the wraps off the new 599 GTO in advance of Beijing show debut

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (internal code F141) is a grand tourer produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. It served as the brand's front-engined, two-seat model, replacing the 575M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model, and was later replaced for the 2013 model year by the F12berlinetta.
You have to applaude Ferrari's efforts in making true performance cars with technical innovations as oppossed to just slapping on carbon ceramic brakes, dropping the suspension a few millimeters, do some ECU tweaks for a power bump and slapping on CF panels -- to then calling a car "extreme" and charging crazy money for it. This car is truly bonkers and shames what ever Lamborghini has available.

Apparently it's already sold out:

The Ferrari 599 GTO, the company's fastest ever road-going car, is reported to have already sold out.

Limited to a production run of just 599 cars, the Ferrari 599 GTO was only revealed last week. Since then it has been shown to prospective customers at a private viewing at the Modena Ducal Palace military academy.

It will go on public show for the first time at next week's Bejing motor show.

The GTO is powered by a 661bhp six-litre V12 with 457lb ft of torque, propelling it to 60mph from standing in just 3.4secs and on to a top speed of 208mph. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox which can shift in 60 milliseconds.

An indication of the car's pace is given by its lap record beating run around Ferrari's test track at Fiorano. The company claims it lapped the circuit in 1min 24sec - a second faster than the previous record set in a Ferrari Enzo.

Ferrari has used the GTO tag, which stands for Gran Turismo Omologata, twice before, for the 250 GTO released in 1962 and the GTO, released in 1984.

No prices will be released until the Bejing show, and Ferrari won't comment on whether there are any cars left to buy until then either. It is expected to cost around £300,000 plus options.

Seriously if i had the money, this would be my absolut N°1 item on my dream list.

With all the Ferraris released since, excluding the LaFer, this is still my favorite Ferrari released in the last 10-15 years. Everything about it is so on point. For giggles, I was checking if the there was a price depreciation (so one day in the future I could potentially get my grubby mitts on one), and what a fool I was for thinking that because it has almost doubled in value. I wish I had the means at the time of its release... The F12-based successor has some big tires to fill.

Well, it is a spectacular car (that engine!), and a very limited edition, and a Ferrari at that. I'm just sorry my piggy bank couldn't muster a Speciale. They will be doing the same in terms of price. Some of the best investments over the last 10 or so years have been Apple and Ferraris.

Exactly and spot-on. I don't know what I was thinking in that it's a limited edition and a GTO. Just on those facts alone, it'll appreciate. I guess my logic was that since the GTB has depreciated the GTO might have gone down in price. But the GTO is, essentially, the GTB perfected. The GTO will probably hold its value, if not continue to appreciate, even when the F12 VS/GTO is released. All that means is that there's no chance to ever afford this amazing machine. I am a bit despondent now.

Don't give up hope yet, there are several options you can take
1) Marry a rich partner (gender not important)
2) Sell your body
3) Sell someone else's body
4) Win the lottery

And the list goes on and on

Personally, that's always been an issue with me...I've never been terribly enterprising. If I only I was imbued with the spirit of an entrepreneur....

To address the above mentioned points...
1) The quest for a Sugar Momma/Countess continues unabated. I do need better threads though to look the part. Also, as per your suggestion, I may need to cast a wider net...some sacrifices must be made...

2) Need to get into better shape. That may help with #1 and would certain help in the field of gigolo-ing.

3) A pimp's life is a hard, hard life...or at least that's what hip-hop has taught me. Also I am not terribly keen on human trafficking.

4) Scratcher it is then but luck was never a strong suit of mine

On a serious note, the lot of Ferraris that have come out in the last 10-15 years have been amazingly proficient and objects of desire, but the sense of desire was fleeting. To this day though, if I were to see a 599GTO on my laptop screen, I would want to somehow transport myself into the driver's seat and drive the snot out of it. It is one of the most brilliant modern Ferraris ever.

I think the F12 GTO might just be able to top the 599 GTO, it will end the chapter started by the 599 as the last of the N/A V12 Ferrari without KERS.

Meanwhile....Almost perfect color combo

I like that shade of red, it's not the stereotypical shade of red you always see in press pics, but it still harkens to a traditional Ferrari.

When it comes to front-engine V12 Ferraris, I am partial to dark blue, especially TDF Blu or Blu Pozzi.

Give me this...

with blue roof, ferro grigio metallic stripe down the middle on the calipers, ferro metallic finish on the wheels and a traditional cuoio and nero interior with cuoio leather Daytona seats with either bourdeaux or nero inserts. That's my idea of perfection.

I know that the sports seats in the GTO are de rigeur but there's something about those Daytona-style seats that just screams "Ferrari!"

I think I've spent entirely too much time thinking about this.

Just when I think the F12TdF just about surpasses this in my mind, I hear and see this and am in love with it again ( it being the the GTO, not the Shmee). Lovely, lovely, lovely spec.

There was one on sale recently for close to $1 million. Ludicrous considering how tacky it looks, especially in person.

That being said, the 599 GTO is still high on the list of most beautiful modern Ferraris.
Just saw those pictures... canot believe somebody can put such a premium on this ugly kit just because it is limited edition...
