Guess I’m the only one whose expectations weren’t met with this car

I think it’s perfectly of its moment. If you wanted an NA V12 they exist. Hybrid V12, it exists, this is the best performance powertrain Ferrari makes now, hence having it in this car.

Same engine, but the F80 has a heavily upgraded, higher-revving version. Stronger block, more titanium, etc.

I understand, though this series is supposed to be the “poster car” of Ferrari, and I still fail to see anything poster worthy about it, be it the design or the powertrain/exhaust note

Not necessarily. The use of V8s in F1 won't lower the targets for CO2 fleet average set by the EU.

The F90, as in the successor of the F80?
That car is 15 years off. By that time everything will be electric.

Then again, if they make less than a certain amount they are exempt. No rules for the rich, they might as well put a V12 in next time again.

There won’t be a hypercar without electric assistance anymore, so I don’t really understand the disappointment around the V6, is so compact and low to the floor, there's plenty of room for electric motors, batteries and aerodynamic packages.
Other high performance cars use similar configurations too, like the AMG ONE and the Ford GT, and the GT2 RS runs a flat six-cylinder setup.

The F80 powertrain is heavily derived from the 499P Le Mans hypercar.
I wonder when the W1 is out so we can see if the V6 is better than V8.

When people think of Ferrari posters, they’re thinking of cars like the Ferrari F40, Ferrari Enzo or LaFerrari, what do they all have in common? Big, dramatic engines (V8, V12, or hybrid V12 & a soundtrack that defines the car. A V6, even a high-tech TT, while it may be brilliant, just doesn’t carry that same emotional weight. (Not to mention Ferrari built its identity on sound)..

Let me put it this way - If you were 12 years old again, would you put a twin-turbo V6 Ferrari on your wall? or a screaming V12?

To be fair, at that age we didn't have those Testarossa and Countach posters on the wall because of their engines, it was their design.

Great V8s are everywhere now, you’ll find them in 849, ZR1, AMG GT BS, Temerario, etc

By that logic, Ferrari could have stuck with a V12 for the F80, but instead they chose to go in a different direction, a light weight heavily electrified V6 powertrain. Three electric motors and a V12 is way too heavy for a hypercar.

Excactly, many kids don’t hava a clue what engine the car has. By the way, Jaguar X)220 and Porsche 911 GT1 was also often seen as poster car, both have 6-syl engines.

I do think removing the moustache makes it slightly more digestible as it gives it some more resemblance to past masters such as the F40 and 80s Testarossa, but I much prefer the La Ferrari, its a timeless design that looks prettier and has that glorious V12. The values are shooting up as well, maybe due to that V12 its becoming a collectors item.
