F1 Ferrari determined to quit F1 if 2010 rules stand

Ferrari lose appeal against budget cap
Wednesday 20th May 2009

Ferrari have lost their bid to gain an injunction against the FIA's plans to introduce its controversial budget cap next season.

The Scuderia indicated before the court case that they will withdraw from the 2010 Championship if the FIA refuses to back down on the £40 million budget cap or the 29 May deadline for entries to next year.

But after a one-hour hearing at the Tribunal de Grande Justice in Paris on Tuesday, judges on Wednesday sided with FIA president Max Mosley's organisation.

"There is no imminent damage that needs to be prevented or clearly unlawful unrest that needs to be stopped," the court ruled.

Well there we go. It is time for Bernie to do something.

No, they are allies but their interests are not litterally the same.

I knew the file couldn't succeed.
The only argument is to leave (or threaten to do so).

With the majors temas out (Macca should joint them now!) the F1 is dead. The fans will follow their teams/drivers, not the FIA.

Only would it be costly (break the contracts or replace them, create a new structure, advertise it, attract the sponsors who might just leave that whole business...).

Long, costly. But possible.

That brings us back to what I said earlier, 40 million is a very small sum of money. Even a new millionaire or a boxer like Floyd Maywhether Jr can easily afford to join F1 with such budget constraints. It leaves no room for advanced R&D and like already stated it's more of a budget for Formula series where all teams hare chassi and engine.

Most no-name teams are pretty nervous now as starting an F1 team is about as certain as opening up a business in Zimbabwe. Rules change every year meaning that both the top teams and new comers are at risk of having their dreams and plans crushed.

And it's not all that concerns me.

Some these names mentioned (Lola, Wirth Racing) are former F1 reject teams "reloaded" and/or are lead by former failures.
Lola haven't had a competitive car since, I think, 1965 or 67. The last time, they made complete fools out of themselves.
Wirth Racing is basically Simtek 2.0, another failure/F1 reject.
Nick Wirth was supposed to be the next superstar designer, and after Simtek he went to Benetton to replace Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne who followed Schu at Ferrari. And we know what a bunch of failures his Benetton designs where.

It's like a "bring us your failures, losers, no names" madness.
