296 [2021-] Ferrari 296 Version Special and Special Aperta

The Ferrari 296 (Type F171) is a two-seater, offered as a GTB coupe and a GTS folding hard-top convertible. It is a plug-in hybrid with a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout and its powertrain combines a twin-turbocharged 120-degree bank angle V6, with an electric drive fitted in between the engine and gearbox. The 296 can be driven in electric-only mode for short distances, to comply with use in urban zero-emission zones.
I have an allocation but I’m in same boat. I think it’s an amazing car. But I can’t imagine there’s a huge difference to the regular 296, which I love. I had 2 458’s and a 458 Speciale and there wasn’t a big difference. This is similar as far as performance deltas. And if I really want one, I could just buy used for $100k off, perhaps.

There is, funnily enough, a big difference in performance feel from 296 to 765. 765 punch is stronger and more violent.

I personally think a flatplane V8 sounds better than a V6. But that’s my personal opinion.

My 296 GTB weighed 1624 kg full of fluids. My 765 1388 kg full of fuel. For your reference.
Very interesting, thank you very much (y)

Although the 296 is only a V6, this shows the influence of the hybrid system.

236kg difference or about 500lbs.

The 765 is surprisingly light (y)

Here’s something else you may find interesting. The 765 feels heavier in turn in. The hydraulic rack makes it more progressive but slower on turn in. It’s more predictable and I think confidence inspiring but slower. The Ferrari darts and changes direction better than any car I’ve ever driven. It’s instant but hyper and forces one to recalibrate and slow inputs. Not as much feel though by any means and more skittish. You’d never guess the Ferrari is the heavier one.

Same with the GT3 and GT3 RS I guess? The Speciale will hold its value better. But I suppose this hybrid V6 won't be that hot for the foreseeable future...

It probably drives exceptionally well just like the 296. However it won't hold its value or appreciate because:
-The production isn't limited in number.
-The sound isn't raw.
-It appears to be compromised for daily usability and might hint that there will be an even more extreme variant.
