A6/S6/RS6 Facelifted Audi A6 (Spy pics & info)

audis are great cars, but after a while i get bored with their design.
which clearly isn't the case with merceds or bmw....

The pre facelift A6 has a more unique rear end, but this one is just similar to the A3 cabrio/A4/A5

Bot the C6 and the D2 was uniqe and wounderful machines...
Audi has taken their dignity away... :t-banghea
Last ones of unique Audi's are the R8, TT ... (and first gen. C6 and D2)

Okay Even I will admit it...THE REAR IS SOOOOO BORING! The boot lid is lifeless, nothing interesting going on at all, the tail lights don't match the rear, the numberplate area looks odd, the boot lid curve going into the rear panels looks wrong:t-banghea

Whats happening to me:D

Honestly that bootlid surprise me. It's boring, not very carefully designed, not matching the lines of the A6. Quite strange. It looks more like the previous generations of Audis than the new one with the "new" rear displayed by A5, A4 and Q5.
Maybe Audi will start to differentiate the models a bit more and reserve this rear to the A4 and alikes, whereas A6 will be more squarish? However it doesn't suit the actual A6 very well.

Then hopefully the A8 will also have a more "stand-alone" design...:eusa_pray

Looks much better than either the 5 series or E Class.

If the A6 gets the new, more powerful engine, then it may give the 535 a better run for the money.

Surprisingly unresolved... The upper part of the plate does not match the upper part of the lights. And the difference is not big enough to create an effect. I guess a chrome stripe will solve it but then, the white graphic of the lights won't match the chrome stripe...

And the lights are a tad too short, don't match the plate holder... Surprising for an Audi, usually carefully designed if not really daring.

Anyway, boring boring boring Audi...

I want to be designer for Audi. It suits my lazy nature very well.

Quit a post. I happen to agree. What we have here is a slight decoration. This does nothing to refresh the look of the design which is what f/l are for.

I`m also with those who hate to see the current taillights go. The A5 taillights make the A6 look like a lower scale model and does nothing for the boot design of the A6.:bash:

Let's give a chance to the new tail lights. I use to prefer the horizontal lines to command on car designs as they tend to make them look wider, lower and longer than they are.

Actually, this kind of tail lights are doing a lot for the current A6 Avant.

I'm one of the people that thinks once you have a winning design, there is nothing wrong with offering it in a small, medium and large. I personally dislike large cars but I would still like to have all of their gadgets and gizmos. I'm alright with the A4 looking just like a smaller A6 which looks just like a smaller A8. I don't think the longest car should be the flagship of a manufacturer.

^^ If you buy a $100.000 A8, you don't want it to look exactly like a $40.000 A4!!

It's great to have a "family spirit".
But having every single car look exactly the same as the others bar the rear lights... Having every new car look almost exactly like the previous one... Knowing how a car will look like before the first pics leak... That is boring, and absolutely not a good thing for me.

Audi is copy-pasting its design, and it's really too much (or, better said, too weak an effort).

Concerning the flagship: you won't tell me an A4 is a better flagship than an A8, will you? Technology, comfort, finish and materials, inside space, fancy gadgets and exepensive gimmicks are not on the A4 side.

And I'm sorry, but having a spacious car where the front passengers have enough space and armrest, rear passengers don't touch the roof or the front seats, where your seats are twice as large as in a normal car, is a much better experience than sitting on each other's knees by lack of space. Therefore, the A8 is the flagship and the A4 isn't.

Absolutely nothing speaks for the A4, and the flagship is NECESSARILY the bigger car (unless you're going to Lotus or Ferrari).

So I take it you are arguing as to what are my personal preferences in cars?

I don't want a big car. Period. I would be very happy if the A4, A6 and A8 all looked identical and had all the same features and functions. For me, the A6 is the better car size and wouldn't get the A8 if it were half the price of the A6. I would also never get an S Class or a 7 series and it has nothing to do with price. I'm not so insecure as to have to have everyone know my car is worth $x

I don't argue with your preferences in cars. I fully understand that you prefer smaller cars, it's an opinion I respect. I am not particularly fond of too big cars either. Not everybody needs or wants a 5m car.

However, I argue with your opinion that the flagship shouldn't be the bigger car. For me it's logic that the bigger car is the flagship, because the size means more space, more comfort. And the bigger size explains the bigger price. Also a better finition, more technology, because you can't ask 80.000€ for a car like the A4 where you have no leg-room, no head-room, a smallish armrest and all that, no real "freedom of move" in the car.

You can't have a flagship where the passengers have not much space, unless it is a coupe or a sportcar. Therefore the A4, and even the A6 can't be the flagship for Audi.

And if you buy an A4, you're happy it looks the same as an A8. But if you buy an A8 you surely won't be happy to see people think it's an A4. It's just a normal reaction, it's not to show off that you buy an A8, but still you don't want it to be taken for an A4!

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
