Videos [EVO] Chris Harris - 458 Italia vs. 911 GT3 RS

Damn, two of my favorite cars. What really strikes me is how Porsche and Ferrari has switched roles. Back in the day of F40 vs 959, Porsche was the technological tour de force and the Ferrari the basic raw car.

Man I could watch those drifting replays hundred times!! What a great pair of cars!

Just wait until Porsche comes with the 991 GT3 RS

Manual gearboxes are sadly heading towards extinction in the world of sports cars. I fear that the 997 GT3 RS might be the last of the analogue ballet dancers. Spyshots of the 991 already suggest that the 991 will be a revolutionary model slated to be weight more, be more comfy. Every other week I'm having nightmares about the monsterous tires on the test mules. Technolgy can counter the short comings of weight increase but in the process, tactile feedback and driver's control over the car is eroded.

Either way the review is sublime and made my day. The cars couldn't have been any different in personality but are both worthy of being in my dreams to night, those I have to say that shots of the GT3 RS dancing in the bends is the reason why I'll be watching the second video a second time.

What a brilliant piece. Thanks DeDe.

Interestingly, the star of the show wasn't the precision-oriented 458 or the full-fat GT3 RS. It was Chris Harris. Damn, I envy that guy - he is fantastic at what he does.

It's a truly great comparison, pure EVOness. And I love Harris' succinct conclusion at just before 4:00 in the second part - letting the picture describe exaclty what differentiates but never diminishes these two epic machines. Yes, Dr D, two of the three best sporting cars in the world. Now Chris, get your hands on that GTO.

It's probably the one Ferrari that really does appeal to me, but regardless if I had the dosh I still wouldn't spend the money.

Maybe I would think differently if I actually was this rich but alas I will never know.

For me, choosing between these two cars would be easy. The GT3 RS without a shadow of doubt. I highly admire the 458 for what it's capable of, but no matter how hard I try, I simply can't get past the looks. It's a shame really, as I truly adore the F430, especially in its Scuderia-guise.
