C350, G35 or CTS for me here. Possibly A4 too, not sure yet. The Germans (except the BMW) need updated engines. G35 is going to be updated to G37 status with 7-speed automatic for 2009. CTS well not sure if I'd want a Cadillac. Still can't stand the look of the 3-Series sedan. The rest don't even make consideration.

I pick 335i , despite the age it's still one of the best. It's also best for active driving and its also a great allrounder but I rather be driving a 135i ;)

my second choice is C350, then A4. I havent driven the rest.

I will certainly go for the 335i. The C350 is quite nice but IMHO, the 335i is much better.

335 and G35 are the only 2 cars from this list I would consider if it was for me, the rest just don't measure up when it comes to performance or handling and of course lack of a proper manual. May be the C or A4 if it was for my wife.

Wife? in case u havn't noticed the 3er is driven by whole lot of women and young college girl while the C is bought by more excutive crowd.

Here it begins....:D

Haha, me, my money, my wife, I am pretty sure I get to decide what cars to consider.

But yeah, I agree, I do see a whole lot of old people driving the C. :D

Well it's ur money and ur wife but don't generalize it;)

The more excutive crown i meant is 30-40 successful men not some college boy or girl:D

Where did I generalize?

But I will generalize this: people who put performance ahead of other criteria will gravitate towards either 335 or G35.

Naa... you are not successful if you are driving around in a C-class, that is for sure. :D

Not looking at the Germans, I think the Honda or Acura or whatever it's named, the new Accord Euro (not the one picutred) or whatever it's badged in your country will be a serious threat to those buyers who can live with a Jap car. I dont' know how the marketing goes in your countries but this car is extremely popular in places that offer them. The old model sold extremely well and they are virtually everywhere around the streets, the new one that was launched last week is, I have to say, HOT! I don't know what is offered in different countries but here in New Zealand, a top Mugen sport version of the new Accord Euro will surely slash a C350's price by half while having everything such as navigation standard, together with a whole bunch of safety systems... Can't expect too much capabilities in terms of handling but they're pretty good for normal driving, and it's the feeling of paying less for more (accessories/options).

hahaha....Sunny, I can always depend on you for a quick jab for anything MB makes (especially when it comes to the the C-class vs the 3 series).

And then Tarek won't stand to take it on the chin and strikes back.....all with good humour and respect, of course.....:D

One thing is for sure, the younger crowd (either spoiled kids with rich parents or young adults in their 20's and 30's with decent incomes) seems to like to start off with a BMW, whereas MB does cater to a more mature crowd. That's very typical of what I see with my colleagues at work.

My father is soon 60 years old and he been driving BMW for the last 15 years. (Thank God for that :D)

But he was intresting in the new C-class but the sales people just dissed him when we visit them so no deal.

Haha, you noticed? ;)

It is not cause I think MB sucks or anything, it is just that they emphasize luxury over sportiness and driver involvement usually and that is just not my cup of tea - yet.

Yes, I notice that too.

True. But those who are looking for something fresh, modern and new will opt for the C/A4.

Well if u r in ur thirties and driving a brand new C-Calss then your income is just above average for sure:D

I personally think that, from a stylistic perspective, the 3 series is every bit as modern looking as the new A4 or C-Class. Both of those designs were very pragmatic and evolutionary so neither has any rational claim to being more modern looking.

Familiarity is the only negative thing about the looks of a 3 series, otherwise it's still bang up to date.
