I dont like it either but afterall its a bad shot.

Wow, that looks so much like the 1 series that bmw experimented with, or whatever the model was. Enilab do you know what I am talking about? It was a design that BMW played with and iam not sure if it made its way into the 1series or the Z4, but it was a coupe like car.

there we go. That is what the side looks like

Not at all. That is more the 3er cabrio. Those lines are from the 1-series hatch.

Edit; I meant 2er! CS1 = loosely future 2er cabrio.

phew

Well I beg to differ. I think the design is running along the same theme.

Yea, it is the same theme, but all BMWs beasicly are right? The CS1 concept was the design study for the 1-series models to come, like the Z9 was for the 6-series.

Edit, sorry. I meant CS1 is like 2er cabrio, not 3er as I say above :bonk:

Not my cup of tea... Looks very bland, i think we need better in person pic's.

You are right that the CS1 was the foundation for the 1er if I am not mistaken, however, I can't hel but see that this car has some sort of CS1 influence. It just looks so different from the E46 lines on the E46 Convertible. Do you know what I mean? The paneling is very bland...

This will be a 4 seat HARDTOP convertible......awesome. This will totally trump the A4 Cabrio and CLK Cabrio. Furthermore, I think it looks quite a bit better than the Volvo 4 seat hardtop convertible.

Eventually, there will be an M version of this.....:icondrool

This is great as you get the open top experience, but the security/rigidity of a coupe when you want.

This may upset some hard core BMW fans, as they've always asserted that a softtop rag is desirable because of weight considerations.

It's bland because we're looking at a grainy low res photo taken out of a promo magazine. It won't be bland when we see high res shots close up I think.

They could make the hardtop out of carbon fibre for the E93 M3. That's what I hope they will do.

CS1 showcases 2er cabrio perfectly - especially in profile (front will be different, rear very similar, but side is almost identical).

E93 has the same "side paneling" as E92 cabrio - the lower crease is not clearly seen it the pic.

But YES - E93 will look even sleeker than E92 (just like E46 cabrio vs. coupe) due to flatter panels above upper shoulder line - especially from the end of green house to the rear end : just like all cabrios do.

Wait a minute. I am seeing some people here saying that this car is going t be hardtop. This would not make sense as BMW already has a coupe, why make a hardtop?

E93 cabrio is a hardtop.
E93 will be more expensive than E92. Quite much.
Also BMW (in cooperation with Edscha) found a hardtop solution which did not compromise 50:50 weight distribution, and not adding much additional weight than softtop - and not eating to much additional trunk space. So - why not a hard top in such case? It's definitely better solution than canvas. The only canvas advantage is lower weight and trunk space.

Why 3er coupe beside hardtop cabrio ? Due to M3 coupe. A simple answer.

Wait the picture on this thread is a picture of the hardtop?

So BMW is going to have the following 3er

4 door

2 door:

coupe
hardtop convertible
and softop convertible

I am trying to understand. Are you guys saying hardtop coupe or hardtop convertible like Volvo and SL? if so, will there be no softop convertible 3er?

There will be NO softtop - only hardtop cabrio.
Yes - the car in the pic is hardtop: the one and only form of E93.

3er: 4dr sedan, 5dr touring, 2dr coupe & 2dr hardtop cabrio.
