Dear GCF,
These debates here are utterly superfluous. Just wait until the clear class leader for decades (5 star by autocar) is coming out with their hyper sedan. It will demolish this segment and the one above. And the one below. Jaguar XF-R. You've been put on notice.
Sincerely,
The British automotive media

--->>2018 BMW M550i First Drive: Five For FightingBut it’s not all fab, this M550i. Like so many modern steering racks – especially from BMW – I’m left wanting more feedback, more communication through the wheel. Sure, the car changes direction quickly and precisely, but there’s a distinct lack of connection between what the front tires are doing and what my hands actually feel. Thumbing through the different drive settings alters the steering experience slightly, but really it just changes weight and effort.

These were my exact same feelings when I test drove the new 540i XDrive. It actually felt like an isolation chamber, fast with predictable moves but was lacking in feel at what the front end was doing.
Some believe the M5 will share a personality with the M550i, well if that is the case better look out for the E63
in the handling department because most reports say it has lots of imput and some say great feel and feedback transmited at the steering. Steve Sutcliffe from Autocar in particular loved it. I am not drawing conclusions like some hard core fanboys, just looking at track records.
