E-Class (W211) E class servicing (w211)

The Mercedes-Benz W211 is the third generation of the E-Class range. Made from 2002 to 2009 in sedan/saloon (W211) and station wagon/estate (S211) configurations – replacing the W210 E-Class models and superseded by the Mercedes-Benz W212 in 2009. Production: January 2002 – April 2009 (sedan), February 2002 – June 2009 (station wagon).
Hey guys, any help on this would be very appreciated.

I bought my car in 8/08, and the last Service it had done was performed on 4/08.

I've only put about 3,500 Miles on the car since then. Apparently it's last service was at 28K Miles (4/08), which was just an Oil Change, etc.

The last comprehensive Service was done 2 years ago (4/07) at 21K Miles. Not due to the time-frame factor, I just took my car for a "Service G+".

With all the Fluid flushes (excluding Transmission Fluid which isn't required), Oil Changes, Air Filter, Etc., I was quoted $958 at the Dealer. They need to keep the car for a day or so and I got a Loaner.

Am I getting anal raped big time or not really?
The price sounds about right, btw got some photos of your car?

Thank you so much! I appreciate that :)

Yeah, I always loved the clean and monolithic look of the 211, and feverishly fished out an AMG Package one to save from having to mod the car myself (pretty hard to find 'em AMG Packaged), and always thought those tails look great Tinted with the double white stripes kept white.

Thanks again :t-cheers:

How many tubes of lube are in that quote? :D
How many miles do you have on it?
W211 came out with services A-H? Most dealers just perform A or B services with some now adding C and D services.
Your G service should be replacing pretty much every fluid which I would say is not needed at this time, since it has low mileage and is only a few years old. But if they are changing all the fliuds then $958 should be ok.
Next time I would just take it in for an oil change and then "check the brakes" or something like that so they should put it in the air, that way they will do a quick check of everything under the car.

Hah, yeah, definitely some extra "lube" in that quote :D

Yeah, I should have done my homework more before I took it in. I was under the impression that if the computer/Dealer says you need the "X" Service, then you have to get it and all that it requires or else you put your Warranty in jeopardy?

The car only has 33K Miles and it's only had about 4-5K put on it in the last year. The Tech said that it requires all the Fluids to be changed based on time, not Mileage in this case, (car was Delivered late '05 apparently). Thing is, I'm so pissed at myself because the last time the car had all those Fluids done was 2 years ago and at 21K Miles, which is only 12K off of what I'm now basically. Also the Air Filter was changed this time and I'm not sure 12K miles is enough for a new Filter?

I think the only major Fluid they didn't change was the Tranny.

Your warranty would be fine if you did all the work, dealers may talk, but...

For now what is done is done, your car has fresh fluids for just feel good about that.

Next time look at everything first.

I just had another look in the service list, what is item 15? I couldn't find any info about it.

I have not looked at the service list in 18 months, so I dont know. Plus US is different then the crazy people who drive on the wrong side of the road:D

Yeah, that's definitely what I'm going to do next time. Thoroughly look over everything and make sure I need it before I dish out the cash for it. :)

The guy called just then, engine oil+filter change, brake fluid change, total $937 AUD, or $ 674 USD

Wow ~$500 for a brake fluid flush. If you get it done, make sure they actually do it and not the suck and fill of the reservior.

They said they are going to flush the system. They are doing it now, going to pick it up in an hour or so. What else do I have to look for, I specifically told them not to change the air con filters, and not to top up the washer fluid. The guy said the washer fluid is necessary because it lubricate the wipers and prevent bacteria from building up inside the bottle. I still refused his offer.

Labor cost is probably going to be the most expensive thing.

Yes they said "they will flush the system". Many will "flush" the system by just changing out the fluid in the reservior. On normal brake systems this is done a lot when part of a service, if it has its own line for a brake flush then more perform the service. SBC is a pain and no one likes to to anything to the system. Hopefully it is a slow day and they have nothing else to do.
The first person to do SBC brakes in my first shop, it took him more time to bleed the brakes then it took him to replace front and rear pads and rotors. And he even gave up after a while. But the system to bleed the brakes has improved a lot over the past six years. So now it is now just a PITA instead of complete PITA:D

You can do filters and washer fluid easy enough yourself.
