DRIVE PILOT, the Mercedes-Benz system for highly automated driving, has won one of the most famous awards in the automotive industry: The magazines "Auto Bild" and "Bild am Sonntag" have honored DRIVE PILOT with the "Golden Steering Wheel 2024" as the best innovation. Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, was on site and accepted the award. From the editorial team's point of view, the updated version of DRIVE PILOT brings Mercedes one step closer to autonomous driving and, as a German brand, would make a decisive contribution to advancing this technology worldwide. The awards ceremony took place at a gala on November 7, 2024 in Berlin's Axel Springer House.
Previously, Mercedes-Benz had presented the latest evolutionary stage of DRIVE PILOT to selected media during a press driving event at the end of September. "Auto Bild" and "Bild am Sonntag" were among those present. The new version of DRIVE PILOT can now, under certain conditions, follow a driver ahead on the motorway at up to 95 km/h, thus offering customers significantly greater added value.
