Daimler is to extend Dr Zetsche's contract after it's expiry at the end of 2013. This is good news and hopefully he can see the fruits of his labour and Mercedes to reclaim the top spot in the luxury car segment.

My take is that Mercedes-AMG will continue to participate in Formula 1 with Dr Zetsche's contract extension.

IMO too, great decision. The guy took a weak Mercedes and brought out on the top again. The reliabilty and overall quality of the cars are miles away before/after him.

One thing that I haven't been crazy about re: him is how he keeps on saying M-B's "sales plans" for the future, how they plan to overtake their competition in future sales, when they're in heavy market share decline VS Audi right now. It makes him put out promises that he may not be able to keep, it also makes M-B look weak, like a brand that needs help. I think M-B's CEO needs to be in a sense arrogant but able to back it up, i.e "We're M-B, we don't have to compete with lessor brands.... we will build them better than anyone, and you will then buy them". Basically, its needs the Steve Jobs of cars.
