Vs Comparison vote *new* SL500 vs *new* 911 Carrera S

Tough call!
I guess my choice would be the SL. I do not care for the 911 Cabrio. If it was the coupe it would be different. The Porsche 911 is something very unique in the auromotive world.

The only soft top i like is the Zonda .. but thats a diffrent story all together

BTW, allow me too add that I think the al- red interior of the Porsche is quite hideous (the color!)

What do you think? Eveybody has an all red interior in his 911? With even a red steering wheel?

Top down is when the hunchback becomes most apparent, better keep it up!

Also, a 4 seat soft top tends to look better than a hard top 4 seater.
A5 cabrio looks great. Phantom Drophead Coupe too.

911 in a heart-beat. I'm yet to digest those head-lamps of Sl. Other than that, its a stunning car indeed.

This is what the SL does. It has mastered this segment. SL hands down.

I like them very very much, but I voted for SL. Latest photos from the official SL thread convinced me that this car is really really hot, especially on black. The difference between those 2 cars was made by the interior IMO. The SL interior is just gorgeous.

Interestingly, WAY more vocal supporters of the SL, but the 911 leads in the polls.

A sign of who the designs attract more? The 911: Understated, elegant, no need to boast. The SL: Outlandish in comparison, boastful, flashy.

BTW and O/T, the SL's $15K-car HVAC system is preposterous. The CLS has the same one (it's from the W204 C, now shared throughout the range). M-B put the classiest and most high end HVAC unit in the E-Class, then cost cut it out of the other models, also, it looks MUCH better and more "fit" with the wood trim. Just yesterday, a Member on an M-B Board who owns and E and CLS was complaining about how cheap the CLS's HVAC was compared to his E:

Definetely the 911, which I consider the best-looking car on the road today along with the SLS. Although I would take the coupe over the cabrio, the latter is still beautiful, and the SL is still disappointing me. From the front, profile, and rear, the 911 has the SL beat for me.

Actually from certain angles it looks better than the SLS and the interior looks more upscale too.
