Check @ 4:50 :D :D

Who will win? Place your bets!!!

Since your so happy i think the BMW won.

But then again the AMG should have won.. just on looks alone lol :D

It has yet to air, I don't know who won.

All I know is you see a boring Audi-like turn in the A45 AMG @ 4:50 with the M135i drifting behind it.
A45 AMG is probably quicker on the track, the M135i more fun.

I dunno....the 1er has a fugly front, but the rest and interior is nice. The A45? Everything inside out is ugly (except the seats).

Again like the 5er having such an amazing interior comments that float around here.
The A class interior is called bad quality and ugly every other second on this forum.

I dont know where that shit comes from.. to me it looks MILES above anything in the class.

And non MB fans, non car enthusiast friends of mine say the same..

Like wow it has a really cool looking interior.

Its like a vacum we live in on this forum, with fantasies after fantasies.

Tell me what's so amazing about this:

By my personal assessment, the A-Class's interior is not nearly as well put together as the 1er or A3. Flimsily fitted trim plastics - especially around the instrument binnacle - and a less-than-Benz-solid overall feel. The 1 series may have low-rent (but hardy and solid) plastics in places but it feels much more "together" than the Merc's fussy cabin. Checked out the 125i in a big way... it checked all the right boxes - even in the interior department - but in the end I went for something else.

CH won't give the first place to either but will prefer the M135i and you'll be able to tell that by his words... same case with almost all of his comparos :)

The only one you have to convince is yourself;)
I am sad that the A-class cabin is of such low quality (the 'jewelry' in the A45 will make a difference) though the nasty plastics (center console and under dash) and non-premium exposed paint around the side glass + after market sealing rubber stays, also the flimsy air vents and HVAC controls etc. Remember I would like for all German Premium OE's to shine above the rest and keep the German industry reputation to the highest of standards and quality so whether it's the poor, sub standard plastics in my X1 or if it's that in the A-class it saddens me.:( For one reason that in future BMW or Audi may think "If M-B got away with it let's go the same route and make more money" that thinking and example will water down German premium standards to Eastern OE levels. Speaking of which if you take a not to sharp object and scratch the plastics in the new KIA Cerato with mild pressure it leaves no mark. When you do it with the A-class there is a scratch. In both cases the plastics feel hard and sounds hollow, yet the texture of the plastics in the KIA feels softer, more like 'satin' to the touch. Premium just has certain standards required and to uphold whilst claiming that you are a Premium manufacturer and that your product is worth paying a Premium price for.

There you have it! KIA wants to achieve VAG levels of perceived quality, whilst it seems M-B thinks having Renault entry level quality is good enough. In the end it's Winterkorn who's going to have the last laugh. He saw what I experienced when he publicly visit the Hyundai stand to check out their quality standards. See the bigger picture and calculate the consequences(y)

Edit: If you compare the new Golf to the A-class it seems VAG will be the new "Buro of Standards" in this segment, for there is not much to gripe about...

In the latest issue of Autozeitung there is a comparison between these two. Their conclusion is that A45 is the sportiest car but M135i win the comparison because of being more practical, spacious, cheaper and being the best allrounder.

haha so Human and others..i went to the dealers today to get some instruction books for my E.

So i did what you told me to.

And my god you are talking some horse shit right now.

So this is the A and 1er i sat in:

The above pictures highlight the shitty parts of BOTH interiors.

The transmission tunnel in the A is pathetic, hollow and hard.
So is the middle part of the door trim where the handle sits, but not the upper or lower part, which are soft and nice to the feel.

Now the area around the gear shifter on the 1er is very tragic as well, hard shiny plastic.
The upper part of the dash is nice soft and not so bad, but in the A that upper part is leather and stitched ( probably due to better extras)
The lower part/glove box is the most offensive and hard plastic i felt this side of a plastic container.
Talking about exposed paint? well its not hidden to well in the 1er either;)
And finally god damn that door handle is one ugly piece of interior.

So all in all i do not understand once again what you guys talk about when you go on calling the A shitty and crap when it comes to interior quality compared to the 1er.

It is in fact equally shitty/great.

At least the A class LOOKS good inside.

Except for you of course, you're the only who says things straight up as they are :D

I don't know Artist, I just don't like the design at all, there is nothing German about it imo. The
build quality is un-Mercedes, and you can see that as a compliment towards MB's fine tradition of quality interiors..

Guys, this is not a BMW vs MB perceived quality thread. If you want to discuss this, and not CH's test, start a new thread!

^The build quality of the previous A classes were also un-mercedes like.

Mercedes quality is very hard to obtain on cars that cost this little ( relatively of course)

Of course there is something German about it..it has some traits from old MBs and its just a cool little car.
Hence the popularity and sales.

I love it 1000 times more than the previous A classes.

Is it perfect? No far from..but its darn nice for the segment.

PS
im the wizard when it comes to fantasy's :D

Hah AMG won, didnt expect that though.

Also he highlights the things i said above about both interiors, and kills off the fantasy of members who claim the A class is exceptionally low quality inside.

I remember when there was a time people would laugh if someone said a Mercedes will be faster around the track or have better steering than a BMW..

;)

Awesome review, awesome cars!!

I'd go for a manual M135i :D
But the AMG is pretty damned awesome too. What a machine!!!

Wow, are the standards for Mercedes so low, people gloat when an AMG is faster than a non-M model?

Haha, yeah. The M135i is pretty damn close to the 'real thing'. Which means the real M (M2) is going to say bye bye to the CLA 45 AMG

I remember when there was a time people would laugh if someone said a Mercedes will be faster around the track or have better steering than a BMW..

More like, BMW doesn't even need an M car to compete with a real AMG.....the regular line will do just fine.

But enough of this nonsense :D the A45 is a great machine. Chris has me convinced, he always does.
And since BMW won't bring an M1 hatchback, the A45 AMG will remain the hottest hatch of the generation.

Is it my problem that they don't make a M 1er?

And btw the E63 v M5 and M3 v C63 .. there has recently been praise towards the steering in the AMGs.

Like i said something you would laugh at a decade ago;)
