Buick Buick Regal Thread

Buick is a division of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors (GM). Started by automotive pioneer David Dunbar Buick in 1899, it was among the first American automobile brands and was the company that established General Motors in 1908.

I would assume no one really pays attention to this forum especially in the US. The Ruesselheim built Regals have already stopped rolling. Canada gears up this month. So the means the Regal turbos that are arriving now will be the last german ones. I am going to buy one, when I was in germany last, I bought all the Opel parts, including an OPC grill, steering wheel, shifter, along with all the blitz logos. Not really badge engineering, but undoing the buick badge engineering. I am also trying to get some parts from Irmscher, the tuning company for Opel. Is anyone else out there considering the Insignia/Regal ? BTW the autobox is a chinese unit, the manual is german. The 2.0 Turbo engine is listed as US made, so maybe it differs from the GM 2.0T unit that goes in the Saab, not sure about that. I realize that parts come from all over, but big parts like a tranny... no chinese trannies for me ;-) thank you.

I'm looking at a Regal GS as my Cobalt lease is up. Make mine black. No desire to convert it "back" into an Opel but boy I sure like the car (i.e. German car made in Canada and sold with American service and warranty -- tell me more).

Oshawa Car is just beginning to build them now. I live in northern Alberta and the dealer here doesn't have any on order but they said they can factory order one...The GM Turbo is the LNF direct-injected Ecotec made in Spring Hill, Tennessee. It's a derivative of the Opel Kadett 4 cylinder engine. It's not a Saab engine. Not sure who makes the tranny but it might be an Aisin.

Only disappointment is that they aren't going to sell the Opel OPC in North America.
