X3/X4 BMW X4 is coming...

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3.
I don't get some of these negative comments, the concept looks outstanding in the video to these eyes.

Lazy- just plain laziness from BMW.

I cant get the positive comments.. it looks very odd.

The comments on other places than GCF are not positive

^NO NO this is fun
:D

Seriously man that is not a good looking car.. im sorry!

^haha yes im sorry for BMW.

Enough of these X cars already..

Trust me man this aint what any VAG or MB fan is jealous about, there might be other things BMW do..
But this? hahaha no no..
Keep it..be happy:D

Nothing wrong with it, yet it leaves me cold. The 4er is sublime, the 1er GT is something totally new for BMW, the 3er GT is very contreversial, this, well it's just a reasonably well designed car.

I don't like it. Take away the shiny concept car bits and it will really be a dumpy looking thing.

As Eni said, nothing new design wise. Why no side gills/vents? All new BMW have it.

I don't think I like the X's design, i don't know, the X5 and X6 (current) are great, but look at the X4 and you find this stubby look of it, why? or even the X3, is it their language for SAVs to look squar-ish and stubby? Look at the X6, how smooth it is... and according to latest renders the X5 and X6 will follow this route. I don't know, don't really like it, but have a look at the ML class and those are just way too soft, un-SUV looking. don't know it takes time to get used to maybe, but i really hoped the X4 would sport a smoother sharper front than this, save the stubby and square stuff for the standard SAVs, this is a SAC!

LOL!

I am so happy about some of the negative comments on the X4, I in turn find the X4 perfect even stunning as it sits right there in front of us. In any Aspect Ratio it's just fine!

Ok, now why am I glad about some negative comments? Because I am the one who believes a design is timeless, especially when its doubted the first few weeks or months, has to be to age well;) . I am overwhelmed at something familiar and thought it may be not such a good thing. Lot's of hours and a sleep later, guess what!? It's as gorgeous and even more satisfying to look at. IMO

That Dutchman in the white collar shirt called Van Hooydonk, that man is making BMW more famous than ever, Great job boys, Great job!(y)

^oh well.

Hope time will tell, but apparently you see the rear of the car, the side of the car and just doesn't match the stubby flat front. Somehow for some reason they decided the creases on the bonnet should be toned down to near nil on X's, and the front part, fenders etc. are just so boxy. The above pics highlights it, a pic on top showing only the front, the last thing you could think of is that it actually carries such a sleek and smooth body. It doesn't look bad by far, but it's not perfect, stuff like the 4er coupe is perfect. Just look at how much fancier the X6 looks.. And yes, if you just put circular angel eyes in the X4, with that shape of headlight lens, it may even look dull. But OK everything from the A pillar onward is very nice.

Nah, a good night's sleep later and I'm still not feeling it. The X3 rocks my world - love that darn car - but this... it's all too little too late resulting in a resounding "Meh".

If this car was to be actually a bit cheaper than an X3 then I'd say ok - but the world is fickle and consumers will pay more for less: less practicality, less space. More exclusivity? Subjective.
Who noticed the three rising swage lines that plateau in near-parallel? One on the front fender, one through the doors and the other over the rear wheel arch. Interesting; like reeds being blown over in a gale.

In my opinion the X4 is all too familiar and brings nothing new to the SAC concept - I was hoping for something a touch more rakish and a little sleeker.

It's said that 'the best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.' When I woke this morning with a smile it was not because 'I got some':D Or because it's Friday, no-no because my first thought was the X4 Concept. And looking forward to something is actually better that getting it.;)

^agree i thought they would go more radical, i mean the front is just...what's special about it? it can well be the front of the X3.

LOL - you need help mate! ;)

Wife keeps on telling me the same thing:D Is your Shrink of great service to you Boet? If so PM me his number, we haven't got good ones here in the platteland :D:joyful:

Jokes aside, I really like the car. There much familiarity in the design and I have acknowledged it from start. IMO it's that family resemblance and a bit of conservatism that brings cohesion in the Premium class. Look at the W222 for reference at what I am trying to rely. Makes for timeless elegance and radical-departure does not work for me hence my hatred for cars e.g. Lamborghini Veneno, IMO.

Why all the whining about the flat & angular front? X4 is an X3 derivate - and therefore featuring flat & angular nose. Otherwise it would look just like a shrunk X6.

More spartan, angular look is a part of X3/X4 identity. Every X-series has it's own character.
X6 will be more aggressive looking from the front, X2 even more - I guess. But following the base models they derive from: X5 / X1.

Also ... with rounder "angel eyes" LED coronas & some other "softer-lookng" elements within the cluster the X4 front looks less angular somehow ... Just like in the X3 case: with coronas lit, the front looks better. They deemphasize the flatness & the angular appearance.

Regarding the new headlight & tail light LED graphics ... I was told they would be introduced on one of the higher-end upcoming BMW vehicles first. They are just previewing them on the Concepts, and monitoring the reaction.
