X3/X4 BMW X4 is coming...

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3.
I think we're all talking about the lines because a car like this is about style, utility and value. Yes there is driving dynamics, I'm sure that will be "best in class" and benefit from the "BMW pedigree", but let's be serious.

Everything looks great, except the way too big front overhang... That ruins the side profile, imo...

Saša, you serious? o_O OR maybe it's the LINES:D that makes it look longer?

EDIT: Nothing about this concept bother or hinders me, I like it straight as it sits there:cool::cool::cool:

Hm I was hoping for a front that would look more exotic, more sporty... this one looks very composed, very serious.
Not bad though, mini-X6 and a stylish X3 (above pic really highlights X3 immediately looks obsolete next to the X4). Don't know what they decide the X models need the broken side swage line first before others, maybe because MB ripped it off on the E class a.k.a pontoon line before they even started to implement the broken line? I'm not too bothered but it doesn't make the car look any better than without imo. Still these lines are no where near the randomness of the other brand, but i never liked the distinguishing features like the kink down of the profile line towards the front, i mean, why? Scott can you tell them to make it straight in the next model? I guarantee they won't lose sales by making the line straight.

After Van Hooydonk had his chance to explain the lines we will all grasp the idea and be convinced:)

I like it as is.(y)

Seeing the X4 and the X3 top and bottom the lines look like copy and paste, please note that I said just the lines. Wish they had copied and pasted from the X6. Now that's a beautiful profile.

looked at the video and i think my biggest concern is the front section, the front wheel arc and hood etc. are very flat and square and i'm not sure whether the X4 should be like this because the profile is so round, but we have a front that is as square as flat as the X3 which comparatively has a much boxier profile.

Very nice, but still have not seen X4 prototypes, when will be available the production version??

Side profile is once more the downfall of the SAC. X3 in profile has a better wheelbase to sheetmetal ratio. The X4 looks like its wheelbase is too short. And that's not ideally BMW-like.

IMO and after having a stare from near-to-far and back at my X6, can't see that. Looks perfectly BMW-like, though the HUGE wheel arches (which i like a lot Btw) may create the illution of the nose being "short"on the X6 but IRL is not. Aspect Ratio of different screens from different PC/Tab/iPad&Phone screens can also mislead. IRL I think the 3D perception may prove me right OR wrong. Then again i like SAC's and may be the ass on GCF that cannot see anything wrong with them. Hope 435i holds residual better than X6M, for I would give or sell (something unspoken) to get my hands on the X4 -Loooove it!

Well as I said and goes for me as well: "only one you have to convince is yourself." I am convinced, like it!;)(y)

Cheers! Boet:)

Because the X3 is the X4s twin . Like the X5 and X6 a lot of the development work has already been done. X4 mechanicals can be found under X3 body shells and no one knows the difference. Remember this?

Now listen carefully my dear Scott, the X4 concept is perfect IMO. Just P L E A S E let the cabin not be a copy+paste job of the X1/X3's . Both cabins are 2 years+ behind my friend, been there and yawn...

Lazy- just plain laziness from BMW. X6 was different from the X5 in all angles while this thing is just plain copy and paste.
That side profile is just beyond awkward. I am disappointed.

Just like X6 i mostly like it just from the front, as the "SAC" profile tries to curve the roof from the middle too much, making it look like a notchback with a raised backside. It just seems like middle of the road compromise - not elegant enough to form a true coupe/fastback outline, presumably because then there would be little space/utility, while still being a far cry from offering enough for what you'd expect of a vehicle that size. I think that recent Panamera shooting break concept and RR Evoque approach the outline better, where the roof is slightly angled and then you have a bigger rake of the traditional hatch towards the end. Looks better than this middle of the road approach and still offers more boot space.

X6 looks more like X5 than this looks like X3. IMO, of course.

A hatchback is plain vanilla and everybody and his grandma have one. All SUVs are like that. So many cars.
The 'little butt' of the BMW SAC models are distictive and set them apart. Really like this detail.
