Yup, this to me is the biggest indicator that they wanted to do something that they could actually produce.

sophisticated materials such as wood and metal from the interior. At least ALPINA and high-end BMW models should keep a wide range of choices available and not embrace the eco-awareness policy. Applying artificial or real leather as veneer instead of wood and metal doesn't look very luxurious in my opinion. Leather upholstery should only cover seats, door panels and only some parts of the dashboard (for the sake of design continuity).

I was excited until I saw the interior. As mentioned above, luxury elements are missing, and the screens don't suit this class. When the Neue Klasse interior was revealed, I had concerns about how it would be used in top-class cars, and I think I was right. They are following a boring and potentially outdated design philosophy. Unfortunately, the dedication shown to the exterior design is not present inside. Mercedes, on the other hand, is moving in the opposite direction. It's more conservative in exterior design but constantly experiments with interior design.

What does the term "luxury" mean to you? A luxury coupe should have plenty of wood, leather, and metallic accents. Without them, they'll look too plasticky, like lower-class cars.
