Good eye (as I draw a gasp of relief) !

A unique reflection of speed, comfort and sophistication.

The front end appears to have some kind of vertical light component.

It will have its own design language and won’t be based on an existing BMW model. So the “based on 8-Series” claims are false.

There are significant differences between the profile view in the official image and the image that is allegedly leaked. The wheel design is not real, there is no glass roof, and the visible kidney grilles are completely different.

If you look closely, it looks like a poorly done AI job.

Even the taillights are completely different.

Absolutely a terrible AI job.

Whatever it is it's very likely to be based on the 8-series - if it's production they're not going to make a new platform for an even smaller selling big coupe - they've already re-bodied the 8-er twice for the 'top' twins. Even if it's just design concept, never destined for production, on a rolling chassis, it's probably built on the Gxx 8-er chassis.

Also look at the colours in the logo. The new one is only grey and white, not a revisiting of the old ALPINA logo made in Buchloe. Even the wheels don’t seem to have the details of the new edition designed by BMW.

It says otherwise on the bmwblog website. I guess we’ll see in 2 days.

“We’ve known about this one for a few months and held off because the early word was good enough to deserve more than a rushed post. BMW ALPINA sent its customer list a teaser email this morning announcing the “Vision BMW ALPINA,” with a reveal set for the shores of Lake Como. The silhouette in the teaser image points to a bespoke gran coupe body style, distinct lighting signatures front and rear, and proportions that sit somewhere in 8 Series territory — without being based on anything currently in production.”

Yeah no doubt it'll be 8er based, technically. But I think he means visually.
Whatever 8er means anyways, because it's just CLAR beneath.

It's a CLAR variation obviously. Slight differences with an 8er, enough for marketing to call it bespoke.
