Very exciting! A new BMW coupe and a new brand within the group (with all that implies, given what they've done and are doing with the other two and M). It's something to look forward to in the coming years, especially with the very real possibility that they'll create bespoke models. What more could you ask for?

I think we'll even see a new interior (something we haven't seen before), befitting the vehicle. Judging by these photos of materials, the Continental GT is part of what they're aiming for.

V12 would be too close to Rolls-Royce. At a guess V8? Possibly hybrid? They have to sell the Electric era to Alpina’s customer base. Especially when pre-BMW takeover they said no.
BMW should reinvent the i8 even for the M brand.

They'll do that with the i7/iX7, the B-series models, whatever they're called. For what is now the sport coupe version, I think they've made the right decision to go with ICE.

That may very well be "a right decision". But IMHO not an unconditionally "right decision". Should the sale, or better said "distribution" of the vehicle in limited small unit volume numbers commence at or immediately following the Villa d´Este presentation, it probably would be the right decision. But should the vehicle be an exclusively conceptual precursor for a serial production vehicle scheduled to be marketed (distributed) at a relatively far later date, I would tend to be skeptical. Should the ALPINA brief be refinement and forward focused cutting-edge technology, a BEV drivetrain could be more suitable. That would also correlate suitably with BMW's NKL philosophy. And as AMG (and soon others) will soon present the assets of advanced audio-tactile sensory synthesis, the V12 becomes a bit of an anachronism. Actually, a V8 as well. In this context, timing is everything IMHO.

I stand by what I said. In the current context, and even if it were being prepared as a standard model for a few years from now, ALPINA is first and foremost associated with purity and ICE technology. The electric version will initially come, as I mentioned, with the i7/iX7. The advanced AMG touchscreen audio system will be available with the M3 EV, and from there it will evolve, since it's all software, I understand.

Mercedes is the specialist in losing money by launching models that nobody wants, like this new AMG GT 4D, at the worst possible time.

It's a BMW Alpina, not just an Alpina. Different from anything else but still very much a BMW.

Looking at the picture again, I am not 100% sure if it is a 4dr coupe or a 2dr…

It's a coupe. And you can see part of the kidney. It's huge and wrapping slightly around the front, just like these headlights.
Speaking of headlights, I don't even think they'll be split; that thin light is all we'll get for this concept.

Those rear lights look weirdest from that preview imo. A bit Genesis-ish or even Bentley like.

Nothing, BMW was just too n00b to realize people would brighten the picture and thus reveal stuff.
