German carmaker BMW's plants are now running at nearly full tilt, pointing to a very healthy year for the company.
Norbert Reithofer, the BMW management board member in charge of production, says they are now at 97% capacity.
The figure is quoted in the weekly German car magazine Automobilwoche due out on Monday.
Earlier this month, BMW's head of purchasing, research and development Burkhard Goeschel said the first quarter of 2006 had so far gone "superbly".
Mr Reithofer also said output at the company's Leipzig plant would double this year from last year's of about 50,000 units.
BMW sold a total of 1.33 million BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce cars in 2005, of which the BMW brand accounted for 1.13 million.
That figure was up by 10% compared to 2004.
BMW shares have risen by 16% this year, narrowly lagging the DJ EuroStoxx auto sector index, which has gained 17%.
