Videos BMW M2 vs. Ford Focus RS

Lol, I can't imagine anyone in his right mind going for the Ford. Unless budget is a constrait, of course.

Another impressive result for the underdog. It shows that the more expensive car isn't always the better car. It's just as good as the bimmer in driving department if not better. Easier to explore the limits for the average driver. On a curvy country road RS is going to show the M2 the rear unless you're a pro driver.

RS is also more practical car and comes with 5 years warranty (in sweden). If you care about image or want to pick up hot women get the M2. M2 is going to get you deep holes in your wallet.

Mountune is already preparing a tune package for RS and mountune usually comes with factory warranties.

Conclusion: M2 got the looks, thats for sure but it aint a £16,000 better driver's car.

Me vs Betty. B. get use to playing catch up :D

Me neither.

HINT HINT.

But be careful now, you will be labelled a brand snob and old fart.

The M2 will most likely be the most financially sound purchase I've ever made.

The ratio money to power/fun might have been slightly better on the M135i though, I would imagine?

Disagree. You could just prefer driving character of the RS or the AWD capability or the practicalness of a hatchback form or the hot hatch looks...

Or neither. And just prefer the RWD handling, or silky smoothness of the inline 6 or the pugnacious looks of the M2 or the better interior appointment.

It is not all black and white, guys. If I was in the market for a new practical and fun car, would have a tough time deciding between these two.

^ There's very little practicallity (sp?) for M2 imo. And people who are buying it don't need it.

If BMW made a 1M (based on 1er) then it would be a real contender to RS but for now RS more user friendlier than M2.

You will be a quicker driver with Focus RS , in the dry, in the wet, in the snow for the average joe.
And the driving experience isn't worse than M2 so if driving is a priority then M2 isn't the obvious choice.
M2 looks a lot better than RS and if thats what you want, then pick M2.

There are people over at the other site who did own M4 but instead of M2 they went for a RS. Sorry to brake it but the choice isn't as obvious for everyone.

I don't know why people can't accept or admit that from a driving point Ford is making great drivers cars. Fiesta ST, 350 GT, to name a few examples and there is a lot more than them.

Like Sunny said - "It is not all black and white".

Can't admit what? Ford makes some great driver's cars, the best FWD sporty cars on the market for sure. The first gen Mini Cooper S (Works) had that crown, but made a bit of a mess of that later on imo.

For me it's rather black and white though. A small coupe with I6 and RWD is impossible to beat. I don't want no AWD with drift mode. Please spare me that.

You don't have to 'brake' anything to me. Of course there's people who want the Ford over the M2. But I don't care about what people over there or anywhere else choose or don't choose.

Ok?
It's very black and white for me though. Absolute no brainer if I could afford either.

Ok, looking forward to see what you say when upcoming M cars is getting I4 ;)

The M135i (I would guess as I haven't driven the M2 yet) provides 80-90% of the fun of the M2 for 60% of the price. The M135i is available with 15-20% discounts, easily. The M2 is list price. So in those terms, yes, the money/fun ratio is in the M135i's favour. However, the M2 will also hold its value a lot better than the M135i, so in real terms the M2 will likely end up costing LESS than the M135i.

I know this always happens with new, in demand cars, but there are M2s for sale in the UK at £10,000 above list price.

Thankfully they don't seem to be selling that fast though. Not as many idiots out there as they think.

Didn't Scott27, once upon a time, hint at a possible 1M hatch? Haven't heard him mention it ever again since unfortunately.

M135i is lagging well behind the competition now.

All I have to say is drive them all before forming an opinion. I was very surprised and impressed by the Focus RS. More "focused" than I thought it would be.

He did. He also mentioned lots of other models which didn't happen too. Probably best not put too much importance on anything until it's official and in the form of a BMW press release.

Hey, brand snob here, and proud of it.

The car I drive has to have class. This Focus might be fun to drive and a good value at money but, to be honest, it is a pain to look at. The kind of car people here in Spain park in the macro-discoteques of the industrial areas. The one that drives people with nasty tastes for music. This car looks like a turd, and is one of the ugliest offerings in the segment.

Is this an insult to Ford or whatever? No. I would love to own a Mustang, which looks fantastic and drives probably really great as well. Not to mention the price.

As I was saying in the E vs Superb thread, a BMW will always be several steps above a Ford. This applies to other brands. No matter how good the M6 drives, if I have the money, give me the Ferrari F12 instead, please.
