BMW M Concept Neue Klasse

10-20% difference is pretty significant.
The shape of the thing will be different. I'm not saying its gonna look bad, we won't know until we see it. I'm just saying it won't look the same.
Like any concept, it takes some liberties for the sake of the show, but the final overall look will give a very similar impression.

It's the same car.
No, it's not, my friend. I'm the wrong person to put together a silhoutte overlay but for sure the two aren't the same.
The DLO is different, the amount of sheetmetal above the front wheels, the the... aw fukkit - talented Matski to the rescue.

There are some more lovely images in the Featured thread:

The rear door shutline is totally different as it goes straight to the rear wheel arch.

Production model will likely have a standard rear door with the wheel arch flared in isolation... Happy to be proven wrong though if that's not the case!

Looks cool. Makes me more excited for the G84 if anything

It's the exact same car as the i3. And all these slight changes will 100% carry over to the production M version.
Not that different from how it's always been, and the what appears to be a different shaped/angled hood is clearly because there's room to play without an engine bay.

Fully expect the exact same silhouette for the production car. Which clearly is an i3 in base.

They did what we were discussing in the GRMN Corolla thread. They gave the car a bespoke rear door because the fender is gigantic.

Happy to be proven wrong though if that's not the case!

The whole stance, flared fenders and rear door will stay EXACTLY like this concept.
You are allowed to quote me when the time comes.

What they will add are windscreen wipers. Don't see them. But there's plenty space there.

I'm going based off the spyshots of the prototype, which to me seems to be the final bodywork.

I'd love to be wrong but since the E90 M3 sedan, BMW only flares the rear wheel arch and leaves the door alone.

Still looks cool, gives it a bit more of a muscle, bulgeing look. But I definitely don't think they're going to keep the concept's wide door.

We'll see, I think you're placing too much faith in BMW's desire to carry over these clear differences.

I'm not feeling it. It's absolutely indifferent to me. I'm finding it way to hard to adapt to the Neue Klasse era. I don't know what's wrong. Maybe if they tried unveiling it at the start of the week, rather than the end, maybe it would be more welcome. I don't know...

Ay, you are absolutely right. You probably too @martinbo

Perhaps merely an optical illusion...but...the M-Concept Neue Klasse's body appears to have been sectioned.
The rear door line of the M3 EV concept is different to the i3. It goes goes straight down vertically into the rear wheel arch panel, instead of curved and following the wheelarch line to the lower sill. this means the rear door is flared and different to the standard i3. Quite a neat design touch. I think they did this purposely due to the problem with the current M3 rear wheel blisters and door opening line did not gel well.

And I already anticipate the upcoming discussions, bc Audi went the extra mile with the new RS5 and provided adapted/flared doors...

There is no need for discussions. Audi has been doing widened rear doors since B8 RS 4 and BMW has been doing widened rear arch only since E90 m3.

Nothing new here to discuss

I really like it the more I look at it. The only thing I would've maybe changed instead of two square LEDs on the corners, I'd have them be one vertical strip.

Pontiac vibes in the front end. Not a bad thing at all, considering Pontiac would also use "kidney grilles" I'm sure their design language would have evolved to look like Neue Klasse as well, if they had committed to this design for production.

I definitely like the i3-style kidney integration with the headlights more than the iX3 which has the vertical kidneys.

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
