Perhaps merely an optical illusion...but...the M-Concept Neue Klasse's body appears to have been sectioned.

As a daily driver the new M EV has its advantages and it looks great for an EV , but would I wake up on Sunday at 6 a.m. to go for a drive on a B road, with the E30 for sure, with the EV not really.

Eh, I'm still not so sure, E30 M3's a bit slow now. E36 M3... different story but then everything's evolving.

0-100km/h approximately 7sec, that’s fine If you have a speedlimit of 80km/h, the interesting part is the lightness it’s probably almost half the weight of the EV M.

I get all of that. I know a little bit about driving.

The E30 M3 and this EV M3 are worlds apart. Just like your preference.
If you'd rather have the legendary E30 - that's your choice and there's nothing wrong with. What is wrong is to compare the two by any measure.

It looks near production ready if not production ready
It does look production ready, but the very obvious differences in shape between the i3 and the NK M concept mean it won't be the same. I very much doubt they're going to make an entirely bespoke greenhouse of a fundamentally different shape to the normal production i3.

The real answer is that the real iM3 won't look like the concept.
Which is a shame, cause the concept looks amazing.
They say it's 80-90% of the final version.
Since the E46, practically all the body panels of the M models are different from the standard version.

I don't know where you got that from; they say it's 80-90% of the final version.

10-20% difference is pretty significant.
The shape of the thing will be different. I'm not saying its gonna look bad, we won't know until we see it. I'm just saying it won't look the same.

I'm not convinced it does. Proportions are too good to be true.

If one thing stays the same it's the proportions. All I can think of are some minor detail changes and even there I struggle..

What's different from the normal i3 proportions wise if you think away the flared fenders? It's the same car.

That's a very useful comparison. I wonder (with some doubt now) how close the production version will be to this concept.

Interesting is that the seams at the bases of the A-pillars appear identical. Pertaining to both angle and width. That may be an indication that the concept will be quite close indeed. Also, the cut of the wheelarch openings with their high crests and heavily flared surrounding surfacing reduces the vertical mass visual, hence leaving the side profile silhouette under the DLO looking sectioned.

Whatever may be...the concept looks absolutely sharp.

I'm normally fairly skeptical about this kind of thing, but I think this might actually be fairly close...

For starters, the M NK is shot from lower down, and I think with a lens that is shortening the overhangs moreso than on the i3 - this is going to make it look better in this comparison not least by making the bonnet appear lower. The lighting also favours the Concept - the i3 has some 'shadows' on surfaces where the M NK has reflections or highlights reducing visual bulk.

The rake of the windshield appears steeper, and the front door of the concept appears shorter, with the rear of the rear door having a concept shutline instead of a production shutline - none of which would make it to production... however I think a lot of the other differences could be due to the meatier wheel arches, which hopefully should make it to production.

Not sure, I thought it would be fundamentally concepty, but it lines up pretty well. Certainly less egregious liberties being taken than the likes of the 8 series or Z4 concepts.

Going by the comparison pics that DF posted above. This looks like the difference.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
