X3/X4 BMW iX3

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3.
So could someone tell the difference in efficiency vs a direcf competitor like Model Y? E-tron is a segment higher I guess but not
known for long range and substantially heavier. Same applies for EQC.

A vehicle that must feel almost equal to the super successful normal X3, and what I read is that it is 300 kg lighter than its direct competitors, it has more range and costs a little cheaper, I do not understand where the problem is .... ..

Why all so cynical!!?

17,000 rpms!!!!!! Check!
Same power as S50B30 engine from E36 M3!!!!! Check!
RWD for purists!!! Check!

It can haz M badge!

eh... nevermind, it's mostly Chinese market anyway.

EQC and E-Tron are the same class. But I too would like to know why this car is no better than these two years years later on the market.
And lets not even start about the Model Y, which seems a gen ahead.

I guess whatever you have to tell yourself. This is so half...

But at least the EQC has been on the market for some time, this iX3 has yet to launch, which will likely be early next year LOL

I am impressed by the range, it best the EQC and E tron wi...

The Audi nor Mercedes are 'custom EV'. The Audi is a Q5 and the MB is a GLC.

I don't feel the same way - for me, at least, the i3 embra...

I am under the impression the i3 IS a commercial success?
Not to mention, the i3 is RWD and semi sporty. I drive the i3s a lot btw, because it's widely available via the Sixt program (car sharing/grab any car and pay per minute) in my country/city. Amazingly fun piece of engineering. Nice looking, spacious and overall near perfect for EU cities.

And still it will sell in those markets with a well developed charging infrastructure

It will sell like hot cakes here in The Netherlands. No Dutch X model has ever needed AWD either, so that point doesn't matter. RWD is fine for a car that will never ever leave the tarmac.

What I read for quite some time is that iX3 will be released this year in a few months - 2020

First it is the same price like the EQC, but the Mercedes has 122 ps more and it is AWD, which means another motor and reduction gear, the whole electronic control for it and semiaxles and joints. The weight difference is mostly due to this. But all three are pathetic when compared to the Model Y. The Tesla has more space- 7 seats, 1930 L luggage compartment (iX3 1560 L) is much faster - 5,1 sec to 100 kmh for the long range version, which costs 49 000 USD, (BMW 69000 EURO)despite having two motors, AWD and 520 km range (BMW 460 under the same standard WLTP).

Seriously ? I always thought they were built on tailor made platform given all the fuss that was made about them and all the flack BMW got for not wanting to do separate EV platforms.

I was referring rather to the classic German competitors, correcting I am missing the Model Y but we all know that it is technically one step above although from what I see in range for example there is no longer so much difference, nor to speak aesthetically exterior - interior, (the Y is quite ugly)

In price it is okay that a BMW is more expensive than a Tesla and despite the disadvantage against the Mercedes (RWD vs AWD), I do not see that it is a big problem today, the sales I estimate will be even because it is not the main thing to look at right now by customers.

The theme of a more classic line (iX3), and a more "electric" (E tron, EQC), and the one that is more sporty due to the weight, seems to me more defining

It's not only being an AWD and a RWD. This is not an ICE car. Having two motors allows for much better control of the torque to each axle and most importantly much higher regenerative braking. This means that also the front disk brakes are almost never used, which would not be the case when there is only one motor at the back.

What??? 68 000 EURO in Germany with the decrea...
Yes definitely BMW have overpriced the IX3 for what it offers:

Price Germany with technical comparisons:
IX3 - 69800 Euros (RWD; 286PS/400nm, 6.8sec from 0-100km/h, top speed 180km/h, range (WLTP) - 460km; weight -2185kg)
EQC - 68306Euros (AWD; 408PS/760nm, 5.1sec from 0-100km/h, top speed 180km/h, range (WLTP) - 417km; weight - 2425kg)
E-Tron 50 Quattro- 67358Euros (AWD; 313PS/540nm; 6.8sec from 0-100km/h, top speed 190km/h, range (WLTP) - 339km; weight - 2445kg)
E-Tron 55 Quattro- 78860Euros (AWD; 408PS/664nm; 5.7sec from 0-100km/h, top speed 200km/h, range (WLTP) - 433km; weight - 2555kg)

How does this comparison show it’s overpriced? It has by far the best range out of these cars and almost everything is included in the standard equipment already (Acc, adaptive suspension, sat nav, panoramic glass roof, leather seats, ...) so imo it fits perfectly well into BMW‘s pricing for the X3 range and also within the competitive landscape

Its power and performance is not up to the class standards, the EQC is 1.7sec faster from 0-100km/h and iX3 only has a 40km extra range despite weighing 240kg less and it doesnt have AWD, only RWD.

I think what we can conclude from this, is that if you want a good X3, buy one with an internal combustion engine.

Seriously ? I always thought they were built on tailor mad...

It's quite obvious though isn't it? Particularly the EQC looks like a GLC with different grille and lights.
