M1 BMW is preparing the M1 Hommage concept for production

The BMW M1 (model code E26) is a mid-engined sports car produced by German automotive manufacturer BMW from 1978 until 1981. In the late 1970s, Italian automobile manufacturer Lamborghini entered into an agreement with BMW to build a production racing car in sufficient quantity for homologation, but conflicts arose that prompted BMW to produce the car themselves. The resulting car was sold to the public, from 1978 until 1981, as the BMW M1. It was the first mid-engine BMW automobile to be mass-produced; the second was the i8 plug-in hybrid sports car. What a backward comment.

Sorry but BMW have realised that the priorities have changed and wish to extend it's current development into sustainability for the unknown future.
More so this comment effectively confirms what eni and I have said all along about this Concept. That it is not happening.

The future within BMW is efficient dynamics and how it will spread to all models initially, but this does not mean the enthusiast has not been forgotten in the development for future BMW's.
More so the opposite , In the future our cars will be individual from our competitors and not so that they have immediate rivals.
Based on the success of the 1er platform we all know about the X1 and what we know about the Z2 but with the Z2 BMW will offer a version with hybrid technology aiming the Z2 to be a credible enthusiasts car but very efficient.

Project ClearSky.

BMW are effectively working on a car that will spearhead it's Efficient Dynamics programme into new territory.
Project ClearSky is what will eventually become the Z2 Roadster, As will as petrol powered Z2 models. The icing on the cake especially for markets where environmental concerns are beginning to bite with be four cylinder turbo couple with hybrid drive.
Think A premium Tesla Roadster and you get the idea , whilst the upcoming four cylinder turbo charged engine will be the most efficient engine in it's class when it arrives for the 1er.
ProjectClearSky is destined to showcase that enthusiasts have not been forgotten, dynamics will be of typical BMW standard and with turbo charged power on board not short on performance either.

BMW are effectively aiming this car at the sportscar roadster conscious Californian market . The design is pure BMW but not a smaller Z4.
The look takes the front end of the M1 Hommage concept and interprets it with faired in headlights using a shape similar to the Maserati GranTurismo a clamshell bonnet resides on top with bonnet grooves meeting a wide but not as tall twin kidney grille. In Characteristics the long bonnet , short rear deck of the roadster series remains. The rear end features a duck tail spoiler but the rear lights sit wrapping around the rear in a triangular shape with L shape BMW design with the rear brake light effectively spread across the ducktale spoiler, underneath sits the BMW badge.
A rear diffuser operates cooling for the electric motor where two square tailpipes sit on each side.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
