BMW Hydrogen 7 - official pics & info!

Thanks for the information Zorro. I wasn't aware of those figures.

Don't forget - we also have the issue of air transportation to contend with. I think that's what makes the development of Hydrogen combustion so compelling. If we're able to genrate cheap liquid hydrogen fuel we could keep infrastructure intact and just produce new engines for just about everything.

Of course, I'm kinda talking out of my ass. I don't know if there's anything about hydrogen combustion that precludes it from being used as aviation fuel.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the future of green cars. Naturally, I'm a cheerleader for hydrocombustion because it means that the future will be filled with cars that don't suck.

I want that hood on my 7er!!!!!!

Eni: can I order one ?

:t-hands:

IMO: No. :D

It's a "special edition" feature for Hydrogen 7 only.

But maybe Individual will offer it on some upcoming special edition. Who knows ...

The Hydrogen V12 is taller than the standard 750Li V8 , therefore the raised part accomodates the extra height - Fitting this to a regular 750Li will mess with the air flow over the engine .

A unique body feature exclusive to BMW Hydrogen 7 and serving as a clear sign of distinction is the new, high powerdome required to house the H2 injection valves in BMW’s Hydrogen Saloon. At the same time, of course, this muscular contour on the engine compartment lid makes a clear reference to the unique source of power within the body of BMW’s hydrogen-drive car.

That's a shame - because it looks bad-ass. Good info Scott.

"Those who are looking to score a free dual-fuel (hydrogen and gasoline) powered BMW 7 Series for six months (High-End Hydrogen, Dec. 4) can stop inundating the company as the response has far outstripped demand. In an effort to promote hydrogen cars and the infrastructure for them to operate, BMW is building a fleet of 100 dual-fuel 7 Series and giving them to influential people and institutions that will promote hydrogen. According to a BMW North America spokesman, the company has identified the 25 or so owners for the cars that are coming to the United States. In other words, don't call us for the free car, we'll call you."

Should be a VERY easy job for a third party. BMW isn't needed. Probably cheaper too.

Now that BMW revealed this very intresting approach

is the hydrogen powered internal combustion engine way definitively over ?
