BMW Future Model Expansion Discussion Thread

Re: 4th "X" Model Confirmed for SC BMW Plant

lol, I Must say Merc1 has been on FIRE today! haha and I agree with most of the points he has made.

Personally I am not against BMW's expansion plans as long as they dont go against the very traditions on which they're heritage is based upon.

Scott's teaser description of the M3 CSL literally salivated my heart and melted my tongue. If only they can make it a reality :eusa_pray

I'm dead serious!

Deadly Serious!

You have to look at what is going on and how governments set the standards in relating to environmental issues and with many cities on the way to introducing C02 limits and restricting higher output cars from cities.
The world is changing and BMW are adapting to that change.
There are many ways that BMW are at the forefront of this change and with over thirty vehicles featuring "Efficient Dynamics" technology on sale today , BMW are intent on making every single product they offer offering best in class credentials in this field. even upcoming models such as : the new 7er and Z4 Roadster all incorporate "Efficient Dynamics" technology
And will be the most efficient and environmental friendly cars in their segments.

Today we are at the forefront , tomorrow is more than just another day , How will we adapt to tomorrow we are developing today and that includes for all our product lines : MINI , BMW AG , Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. And all levels including M-Division and X and Z series,
You might think it is impossible but we will get in the future of a car like the M5 with a petrol driven powerplant coupled with a performance hybrid drive for ability to switch power for entering populated areas.
Just like the Turbo chapter , hybrids,Electric drive systems will all be on BMW's terms which means no sacrifice in either dynamics and agility.

It is best to keep on the road rather than be forced off it.

Other models currently undergoing assessment for future showcase

include : MINI - 100

A current MINI One showcase but with special engine (From Co-op with Fiat,PSA or BMW Motorcycle engine?) , gearbox , couple with electric drive and special areodynamic features such as specially designed wheels and body work - 100 for 100mpg.
The essence of MINImalisim. And the model for Isetta.

BYW, what can we expect of the new line up of BMW, the hight end one?. I mean CS and Z8. What is their design going to be about?, what will be the new engines for them?.

I am expecting something like twin-turbo V10 with 600+ hp.

So when can we expect the new Z8 to be launched? You only hear about this car on this forum, news elsewhere died out over a year ago.

I suspect it has been canned due to rises fuel costs and the need to flood the market with X variants. I personally think the X4 sounds a lot more interesting than than the X6. An X6 passed me on the M25 the other day and the driver had that super arrogant look about him. I figured he'd traded up from an X5 based in his 'I'm better, richer and more important than you' persona.

As for the PAS.... still think this will be a big ugly hatch that no one will want to own. Heavy discounts here we come. You read that the design will be coupeish and muscular. The spy shots I see are big glasshouse, hatch, frumpy rear end styling (visible under the camo). I'd sum up and say it looks like and overweight, middle aged, ugly woman.

I'll let the experts on here try and convince me otherwise.

BMW need to be careful with brand stretching, the big mistakes are:

Leaving your loyal customers behind
confusing your new customers with too much choice, poorly segemented.
Watering down your brand values to make them fit new niches
Becoming too mainstream and less exclusive.

^^ I will have grow white hair before I see the Z8...

:D

I would love to see a BMW rival to the new audi A1. I saw a few renders a while ago.

No go.

BMW Group has the MINI brand instead. Perhaps in years ... in the case BMW sell MINI division. Then I'm sure BMW "0-series" will be born very quickly. But there is absolutely no indication MINI division is for sale!

But there will be a sub-MINI micro-car - kinda a Smart-fighter: either branded as BMW Isetta, or as a separate Isetta brand. Not yet decided.
