1 Series BMW (F40) 1 Series Hatch Videos - from Leaked to Official

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
All round very positive reviews of the 1er and the quality once again top drawer as is every new BMW, just wished it looked better. No surprises they think it’s better than the A35 they had to hold it back for the A45, not the case for the M135i it’s the most powerful F40 you’ll get.

I never understand these comments about "holding back" models that aren't quite at the top of a particular model line. Nothing has been held back. The A 35 fits neatly into the pecking order that the marketing department have designed. It's exactly as it was intended from the start. You get "X" amount of performance for "X" amount of money, and it is designed to go up against the S3 and the M135i. The A 35 would be no different whether the A 45 existed or not. As if MB would suddenly give you 420hp in the A 35 for the same money, and a car that handles like a supercar! And the M135i is exactly how it would be now with or without an M1.

The only example I can think of where a car seems to have been "restrained" in some way, is the Cayman/Boxster, but that's due to it's mid-engined layout being inherently "quicker" than its older brother, the 911, but even that protection seems to be stopping now with the second generation GT4 being released.

So he reckons there will be a crazier M140i with a straight 6 in this car? Doesn’t take much to be a motoring journalist just a camera, license and opinion.

The front of the new 1er is a tragedy I hope the 2GC doesn’t feature it, but that’s unlikely.

I drove two examples yesterday. On the coastal roads surrounding Porto and on the track. The front end is not as bulbous as it appears on the photographs. I think it actually works well with the joined kidney grille and when viewed side on it has that typical shark snout you expect from BMW.
I love the M Packet though it relies more on sculpture rather than faux-metal appendages as decoration. Not a fan of the standard model it's too unimaginative. The Luxury model with all the chrome is pretty tasteless too.

Maybe I might change my mind when I see it in the metal right now it’s ugly. The Z4 went from being ugly to really pretty in a matter of days when I saw more pictures and videos, not with this car I dislike the look with each passing day, missed opportunity.

It's funny how the previous 1series got criticized also for its ugly front lights when it was launched and now the FL turned out to be even more attractive than the new model.

I think the F20 1er got severely dumbed down with the facelift. To appeal to boring standard 13 in a dozen people. You know, for those couples who buy the same jacket and then go for a walk, those kind of people.
Front is ok, but the rear is just plain boring and uninspired, and the Polo-like rear of the original F20 was far better. Front (lights) too.
