Most of the German companies including Porsche, Audi, VW like to shoot their "international" ads in Cape Town South Africa but edit them to look European or in most shots they even drive on the wrong side of the road to adapt to European roads. What's the logic? Interesting though.

BMW have been shooting their media in South Africa since the seventies. And why not? The scenery is perfect as is the long winding coastal roads and there is some stunning architecture plus you also have the great weather.
Cape Town is usually the place to be but some media has been filmed in Swakopmund and surrounding Namibia.

The recent marketing campaign for M Town was also shot in Cape Town.
As was the campaign for the M340i.

They occasionally venture into Northern Africa with the new X5M and X6M recently filmed in Marrakesh.
And of course we have just seen the M8 Competition Gran Coupe touch down in SA so that is in town. So people should keep a look out.
It's been a while since a photo shoot was breached.

There is a lot of truth in the video, especially regarding the front bumper.

It’s designed different for the sake of being different - should have had a tradition M sport bumper.

It appears it's designed as function over form which is good because it allows for more sculptural interpretation.

Which also cuts back on the decorative elements which are used mostly to enhance the extra space. The only bright work appears to be the surrounds on the air curtains. Which gives it a more premium sportier appearance.
